Now if I could just insert a pic directly from my Hard Drive and the thing would stop spinning and actually complete the task I'd be happy. (this last sentence is continual typing)
This is still a problem for me too, so if I want to post a pic from my hard drive I have to use another browser like Chrome in the meantime..........

As I posted in another thread, I tried to post TWO photos from Flickr last night.

As some have noted, sometimes it seems to take a while for these things to post --> the little arrow just turns and turns.

Usually after a few minutes, I just cancel it rather than wait, rather than sit and wait until it's done.

Last night I did the first photo - which worked fine - added some text, and added the second photo in exactly the same way.

The little arrow turned. I was called to supper & forgot about it.

In the morning the little arrow was STILL turning, some 14 hours later!

Any ideas for a fix for this?

Hi Erik,

I'm still battling it........as a temporary workaround I've downloaded sample pics to my DPR gallery and posted from there which seems to work well although I don't like doing it that way. Then in a day or two I'll delete it once it's served it's purpose.

Hopefully DPR has taken notice of the problems several members are having with IE8/9 as noted in this thread........

Hi Vikie.... yep, worked for me, but like Sunny said... no EXIF data (better than nothing)

Experiment: Image from flickr to see if it has EXIF data.

OK, that worked. Here's how.

Flickr retains the EXIF data for its Original Size images (at least it does for Pro accounts - don't know about free accounts).

For screen viewing I always process my images to 900 pixels high, and that is the size I post to flickr. So that is the flickr Original size.

I picked up the URL by going to the Original size version in flickr, right clicking on the image and (this is in Firefox, but presumably there is something similar in other browsers) clicking on Copy image location.

In this post, I then used the Insert/Edit image from web icon and pasted in the URL.

What got picked up at flickr, and pasted here, was
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8319/7890168668_722d821672_o.jpg.
I believe the key thing here is the "_o" at the end, indicating the flickr Original version.

(As it happens, I've taken to posting things directly from my PC as it is much more convenient.)

Turns out you can get a bit more detailed EXIF data from the image (e.g. in this case that flash was used, the metering mode and contrast, sharpness and saturation were all turned down).

This is in Firefox, but presumably there is something similar in other browsers.
This uses the Exif Viewer browser add-in, but there are other alternatives.

With Exif Viewer in Firefox you can right click on an image and select View Image Exif Data. This didn't show anything for the image in the post, in either the small or large size.

I then clicked on Original size. This showed the posted version of the image in a separate tab, and right clicking the image and selecting View Image Exif Data did show some Exif data.

Well it works - direct post from iPad 3. Hmmm, do I still need Flickr? Stuart

If we can post a pic from our iPad, why can't we upload to our DPR gallery? I mean they have the pic from our iPad stored SOMEWHERE.

I do like having the ability to post test shots w/o cluttering my Flickr account!

Should've said - great idea for a thread Vicky.

I have a more basic problem with my DPR Gallery, unless limits have been quietly increased, it is full. I'll no doubt keep the Flickr Pro account: it is very inexpensive and, as you say, provides an alternative place to secure copies of images. Stuart

Testing EXIF from Flickr. First is a smaller large size and the second is the original original To see if EXIF shows in both.

No EXIF in the first and EXIF is displayed below pic for the original original - that didn't happen before. Hmmm.
