Why is this the case?? I don't want emails for every response in the forum, is there any way this can be set to OFF by default instead??

I hate having to uncheck it all the time. My profile has all notifications turned off. If I forget to uncheck the box on the thread will it override my account settings and start sending me stuff?

I would be sweet if the box were always unchecked when the account settings have notifications turned off.

Cheers,

Seth

I wrote a feedback to the admins about this.

I think it is totally annoying.

This is what I sent them :

> MAIL NOTIFICATIONS : DEFAULT NOT LOGICAL

> Concerning the new forums.

> In my profile, I have email notifications DISABLED (except for private messages). Nevertheless, the little box underneath a new forum post, that decides whether or not an e-mail notification will be sent to the user when someone replies to his post, is ticked by default.

> However, I really DO NOT WANT my mailbox to be swamped by messages from DPR every time someone replies in a forum. Sure, I can of course "untick" that box. Only I don't think I will remember to do that EVERY time I post in a thread (which is often).

> I believe that this is something that should not be opt-out, but opt-in.

> Or at least the default status of that check-box should be corresponding with the poster's preferences in his personal profile. Can you fix it? Roel

I have the same issue and I've rechecked my preferences. They all say no email but this message has a check mark in the "subscribe" box right now.

AND, when I hit REPLY or new message my sig shows, but when I use "reply with quote," no sig.

I noticed that too, no signatures when replying with quote.

It doesn't work, anyway. I'm getting zero email notifications.

Looks like they addressed the default 'checked' button - now when I post, Subscribe to e-mail updates is UNchecked by default.

The default is reversed, but I still get no emails. I do get dpreview announcements, so I don't think the problem is with setup.

Edit:

I checked the setting in my user profile. There are three columns of radio buttons, never, instantly, and daily. The radio button for never is missing. The other two are not set. I didn't try changing it because it looks like I will not be able to change it back if I want to.

Screen capture of the radio buttons. The way radio buttons work, if you click one, you can't unclick it like you can with check boxes. The only thing you can do is click one of the other radio buttons. For some reason, one of the radio button options is not selectable, but neither of the others is selected. This should not happen.

I've here and there checked the box Off in some responses. Suddenly it's off by default, as it is when composing this.

I think there's a lot to address and it's going to all take a few days, and then some. It's shaped up rather well since the release, between fixes already made. A little frustrating at first, like anything that was once 2nd nature which makes one initially slow down a bit. Not unlike one's first time with an Olympus. ;)

Yes is has been fixed and without me going and changing anything. Like many of these initial bugs, let them get fixed instead of threatening to start WW III over them!
