Forum repsonsible for # of C-2100 sales?

Isn't this like the 5th time we've done this survey. We need to combine all the data into one place.

Anyway, here's my answer (for the 5th time): I bought mine because of this forum, and Heidi bought her's because of mine. I don't think we got anyone else to buy one.

Prior to the UZI, Heidi had a D-490, and my father has a D-510.

I would guess this forum is indirectly responsible for a couple thousand UZI's being sold. How many UZI's did Olympus sell alltogether?
--

Well it sold me my original Ezi and Rach's too!. My UZI of course was due to this forum and in no small way was responsible for me getting a D60 (the importance of IS - not Oly service ;-), let's face it , at the end of the day, all a D60 with the right lenses on is - is a big expensive Professional UZI -- LOL..

Bought mine because of this forum. One friend and two co-workers bought them after they saw mine and the photos from it.

I just posted a reply to Jim K's thread "Oly 730 UZI Why No C2200
UZI?" in the News Discussion forum (it probably should have been on
this forum) where during my lengthy response I made a statement to
the effect that this forum, Olympus Talk, could very easily have
been responsible for 1/3 to 1/2 of C-2100 sales, at least in the
U.S.!

Now its just pure off-the-wall speculation, but it got me thinking.
Just how many unit sales are we all responsible for?

How about replying to the forum with how many new (only) C-2100UZ
(only) cameras you have bought and how many others you have been
directly responsible for selling. You know, sending friends,
relatives, etc. to CompUSA or Wal-Mart or wherever, and they came
home with or took delivery of a C-2100.

For me, I own (2) C-2100s and have credit for (5) Third party
purchases. That's seven new C-2100 sales I can take direct
responsiblity for (where's my commission?)

I can truthfully say I would never have bought the first one had it
not been for this forum.

Remember, new camera sales only and C-2100s only and be honest.

1 here, and we're looking for 1 more (hard to find)

Before I did my research, and started reading this forum, I wasn't even thinking of a 2100......
Thanks for everyone pointing me in that direction!!!

I bought a C2100 this week and am expecting the camera sometime tommorow. All these posts on the camera like the "everything you need to know" and all those A200 and B300 posts pushed me over to the UZI group. I just couldnt wait and just watch all those posts on how great the camera is and just see all your pbase web sites with those awesome pics. By the way I must have visited almost all of your pbase sites from many of the C2100 users here.

I am still an amateur, but am learning a lot from this forum. I suspect If I would use my 3040 like I used to. Wondering if I should dispose it, but its just 4-5 months old.

It's not all Zoom either - it produces stunning landscapes ai minimum too :) - I know you have a 3040 for that, but if you're out with the UZI, you won't be dissapointed with the results :)

Heavily JPGd and reduced (the orig looks better)

And at full zoom with a B300 nailed on the end..

How many of you bought when the 2100 was around $900 in price? Or did most like myself buy at $399.95. Olympus was making money at $900, but probably losing some $$ to move out old inventory at the lower price.

Certainly if they would give the 2100 3 or 4 megapixels and some other "freshining" and sell for $400, I would buy one.

I bought one and was heavily influenced by this forum. My question: is Oly still manufacturing the camera? There seems to be very, very few available in the marketplace.

I bought my UZI back in Dec. 2000,and it wasn't a very popular camera at all at DP. I only saw some UZI related posts, bot not many. Somehow, they didn't think the UZI was a good camera. Some UZI owners, including myself, continued to post pics taken by the UZI and gradually getting ATTENTIONS from forum visitors. I still remember that when I had posted some pics taken with the UZI+B-300,I got lots of responses, giving forum visitors the UZI's capability with the B-300.

And during spring time,2001,we saw a price drop on the camera, and that triggered a sales surge throughout the summer. It was at that point when we saw overwhelming UZI related posts here and making some people wonder if this was Olympus forum or UZI forum. At one point,I felt sorry for non-UZI camera owners.

This camera will definitely find its own spot in Olympus digital camera history.
Though I may get a better camera in the future, this one is my keeper. :)

I own one UZI and am responsible for six other purchases (seven but one of them returned it within a couple days and got the SOny 707 instead)

So I guess I have 7 sales under my belt... at least three of the other owners came to this this foirum but never posted anything

I bought mine because of this forum and six months later I bought another one for my son when he graduated from college.

I have a number of friends of wish they would seen this forum before they purchased other digital models.
