I can picture where the G1X would be the one camera to walk out the door with...but that wasn't today. I shot a St. Patrick's Day parade downtown and had to be ready for anything. Nikon D5000, wide angle (my Sigma 10-20), telephoto (my 55-200 VR) or in-between (my 18-105 VR). Turns out I used the 18-105 VR mostly but I had the other two "just in case" and did use them a lot.
Actually, the G1X would have gotten 40% of the shots and I'm sure well.
But...and this is a big but...actually shooting with a G1X is the only way I'll ever know if it fits into my shooting workflow. As it is, any $$ I would spend on one could just as easily go for another lens for my DSLRs. Priorities.
And for all the posters who lament the weight of their kit and how they have to downsize for health reasons? I don't have that problem. Lucky me, right?
Why am I telling you this on a Canon forum? Check my username, that was me for the longest time.
