Took these shots in the last few weeks. These may be my last shots with my D90 as I just bought a refurbished D7000. Goodbye D90, you were a great camera! :)

You do such a nice job with the D90, why move to the D7000? Great pictures.

Yeah, we all know D90 was a piece of rubbish waiting for an upgrade ;) hum... ...
  • Good luck with ur new toy.
cheers

Two big reasons for me why I'm upgrading. One is the magnesium alloy body and weather sealing. I've noticed recently I enjoy shooting in not so pleasant weather conditions. Two is the higher ISO I can achieve with the D7000. I know this can also be up for debate but I tend to have a higher than normal miss in focus with my D90. I know I've read some horror stories about the D7000 but i figure given that its a refurbished D7000 maybe it has already been fixed by Nikon we will see.

Nice shots. The D7000's focus issues have a lot to do with users and the increased complexity of its CAM system (not to say there haven't been some defective D7000s). Nothing against the D7000 but to me, it wasn't much of an upgrade from the D90. I hope you get more rainy weather, though...the last year has been pretty dry down here in Houston.

OK, not so purely a hobby.

Nice set! I look forward to your new and improved images coming to a neighborhood forum soon. What processing are you doing? I assume that is not going to change too much. The third picture is particularly electric while the sixth is more subdued. I like both styles.

I just went through the same process about 2 months ago, upgrading to a D7000 for many of the reasons posted already (high ISO capability, faster focusing, U1 and U2 controls to name a few), but the biggest difference between the two cameras for me is the brighter, 100% viewfinder on the D7000. It's a joy to use. BTW, my D90 is still a great camera and usually with me, sporting a different lens.

Cheers,
D. Hamments

Originally i used primarily lightroom and photomatix but lately, and with these shots I've started using View NX 2 to convert them to tiff so that i can get all the in camera settings and active d lighting, then lightroom to do some touch ups then finally photomatix to merge for the HDR shots. I almost picked up capture nx but i just love the way lightroom is organized.

I just walked last week, taking many of the same shots along Lake Bird Lake along the hike and bike trail. It's definitely a place to both take photos and take in the views!
