Leica M9 on the Way!!! Lens advice?

So I am on a waiting list at a local store and a M9 batch is do in this up coming week.

If all goes well I will soon have a shiny black M9 on my hands.

I was thinking of the following lenses to start with after doing much research online.

LEICA ELMARIT-M 28mm f/2.8 ASPH
LEICA SUMMICRON-M 50mm f/2 1979-current
LEICA ELMARIT-M 90mm f/2.8 6 bit

I would love the LEICA SUMMILUX-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH with the creamy Bokeh but That cost would really eat into getting another lens

So I sure hope the m9 comes this week because today on my way home I snapped this photo from my car =)

That's a great lens selection, all you would ever reasonably need for an M9. I am sure some folks will be suggesting a 35mm which will start the great 28, 35, 90 vs 35, 50, 90 debate. 28 gives you a better margin from the 50 though.

This is definitely an excellent lens choices ! I just hope you'll be able to get your lens
quickly as well ! I would start start the 50.

I personally only have the 50lux and was able to find the 90 elmarit (will get it in 2 months as somebody bought it for me in Europe) ! It's a bit challenging to find that one as no more in production

If you're in the US, check out Dale and ProShopPhtographer they seems to better turaround than others !

The store I am picking up the M9 at has a ELMARIT-M 90mm f/2.8 6 bit on hold for me right now. Its has a small knick on the lens hood but other than that it looks mint. I can always put a little black nail polish on that knick =)

They also have the ELMARIT-M 28mm f/2.8 ASPH in stock which is pretty easy to find it seems and of course they are all out of the SUMMICRON-M 50mm f/2 and the SUMMILUX-M 50mm f/1.4 =(

I really would love the SUMMILUX-M 50mm f/1.4 and if they had it in stock I might just got for that but I am sure they have a huge waiting list for that lens right now.

You can always get Zeiss lenses if budget is an issue for you. It gives you the Leica experience without sacrificing too much quality.

the 50 Lux that you really want.

Sure the 50 cron is a fantastic choice, but it isn't what you desire - so just get yourself your Lux.

You might also consider the crons for your 28 & 90, when you can.

Better to have the 1 that you really want (if you can) - then a placeholder - which usually ends up costing more in the long run & delaying your satisfaction.
