Hello everybody,

following previous posts regarding remote controlling of the camera I ordered the cheap version from JJC, RM-E9 which was supposed to work with the EX1 / TL500.

I just received it but nothing happens by pressing any of the keys on the remote. Too bad, because there is an infrared signal which comes out of the diode and can be seen through the viewfinder of another digital camera, but not the EX1 itself. I also enabled the remote control function in the EX1. So I guess, the remote control is not the right one for the camera.

Does anybody of you have better experience with this particular remote control from JJC?

Best regards,

I bought this remote, and it operates my TL500 just fine. I don't recall doing anything special, except turning on remote control and making sure I was in single-shot mode. I don't know if it works in other modes, but my recollection is that it didn't work in continuous shooting mode.

I just went searching for the original Samsung SRC-A5 and can't find it. Even Amazon is out of stock. You'd think Korea had the earthquake/tsunami the way some Samsung stuff is hard to locate.

On the topic of remotes, is there any remote unit that also includes an intervalometer? That seems like a cheap and easy extension to the electronics of the remote. Alternatively one could hack in an electronic timer to a normal report though it would be so much nice to just find a unit already finished.

Have you tried 'samsung accessory.com' . They had them a few weeks ago.
Thanks

Nice try, but it shows "out of stock". Now, if I were a camera company that made a statement about being a world leader in the digital camera field/market in the near future????? This is a terrible way to carry that out. It's bad enough not to get the proper firmware updates or even to know what the latest firmware is for your camera, but not be able to find the proper accessories?

All that said, I still really love my TL500 to pieces. It ain't perfect, but it sure poops out some of the sharpest images, with great color, of any camera in it's class. I must say I'm a proud owner, but wish Samsung would get their support problems worked out. JohnW

Right. And also that this setting is not sticky between on/off cycles, IIRC.

As for intervalometers, there was someone on eBay UK selling one for the ex1 recently.

I may be mistaken; however, I think I read somewhere that Samsung made some of the Pentax cameras. Is this correct?

If so, was this the DSLRs? Is the DSLR ir signal the same as the EX1?

I also have wanted to purchase the Samsung remote for the EX1. It seems kind of clunky for the price. Such a wonderful camera deserves a remote thats as least as nice as it.

I have an android based phone (HTC Desire) which is quite nice. I've wondered why it (or something similar) couldn't be used to control the EX1. Well, unfortunately my phone doesn't have an IR emitter.

I see that one can purchase same to plug into the ear phone jack of the phone. With that and the right signal (hence my question above about Pentax cameras being made by Samsung) it might be possible to control the camera.

I found this link:
http://www.dslrbot.com

Has anyone tried this? Did it work? If so was it based on the Pentax signal shown.
Thanks

Hi,

I had the same problem with this remote. The infrared signal culd be seen (barely) on the EX1 display but nothing happened.

I replaced the battery and the remote started working. It seems that if the battery is low there is not enough signal to activate the EX1. I've seen this same problem when trying the remote outdoors with bright sunshine, the remote does not work unless it is really close to the camera (probably the remote signal gets lost in the bright background).

I thought it was the other way round (and only for GX10/20).

I've just tried a Pentax IR Remote F on my EX1 - no dice unfortunately.
I'm going to record the remote signals from the Samsung remote and see if I
can replay them.

I exchanged the battery and...IT's WORKING!

Thanks a lot, this is it! Now you can see the infrared signal even in the live screen. The JJC remote control works as a shutter, but you can also zoom in in out and play your photos back and forward.

Have a nice evening!
