Hello,

I have tried looking for the answer in Kelby's and Evening's books but cannot find it.

I cannot figure out what order are my pics in a filmstrip. I thought they should be in ascending or descending order by the file number but they are not. They are mixed throughout, few files in sequence, then few odd ones, then few in sequence, it's all over the place.

Could I please ask for help in finding a reason and fixing it?
Makes it difficult to look for pics I need.

Thank You

are they not in the same order as the library view? - you should be able to sort on the same parameters
Yes, they are in the same order as in the Library but that is the same out of whack order, in the Filmstrip.
They are all in order in the folder when I access it through Explorer.
They are also in order in Grid view in LR, but not in the Filmstrip.
I cannot find where I can fix that.

In Library Module (shortcut: G key for Grid). Go to View> Sort.

Also in Library Module, if the Toolbar is active (shortcut: T key), it will have the Sort order listed on it (if you don't see it on the Toolbar, go over to the little arrow at the far right of the Toolbar and choose the option for Sort to be shown on the Toolbar)

Tks,
It works in Grid window but Filmstrip remains out of order.

When I closed and opened that folder in LR, Filmstrip was in order, couple of switches to Develop module and back, messed up the filmstrip. I cannot figure that out.

Hmm...I wonder what is causing that. I have been using LR since it first came out and I haven't ever had that problem.

I don't know if this would cause it, but you might check and make sure you don't have some kind of filter active without realizing it. In Library module, hit the backslash key (\) to show the Filter bar and click on None at the top.

Thank You again,
I did that, Filters are None.
Now, even in Grid view pics are not in order, really weird.

I remember now that for a while, when I opened files in Zoombrowser, I had similar problem happening at times.

When I go to "Show in Explorer" from a Grid view, pics are in numerical order in Explorer window. But they are not in LR, nor the Grid , nor the Filmstrip.
They are also not in order by the time picture was taken.
The beginning part of a filmstrip is in sequence, later part is not.
Yes, please , I would need help on that.

Sounds weird

HOwever if while in devlopment mode you drag a photo along the film strip it will put the photos in "User Order" for library as well.

In the tool bar just select the sort order you want as seen here.

Don't know if this helps in your case though

In the Library module, right above the filmstrip, there should be a "Sort" category with a drop-down list next to it. Try choosing "Capture Time" to put all of your images in the order in which they were taken.

Thank You,
I did that and it got even whackier.

They are in Capture Time sequence by the info displayed, but that sequence is not the sequence they were taken in. It looks like the clock in my camera is malfunctioning, at first I thought may be it was re-set, but that is unlikely because it would have to been reset few times, rather impossible. It is a 40D, may be my internal memory battery needs changing.

Anyway, this was a good clue, I think it may be the reason.

Thank You all for helping

Chandra, tks again for yr help this time and last time.

As I said below, it seems my camera clock is not keeping time consistently, time for a battery change and that should fix it.
It will fix the same problem with Zoombrowser.
Hopefully that is it.
