I hope she didn't jump.

Try cropping the image so the sign is out of the frame - I'de suggest trying to crop the LH edge to the center-ish of the black post nto the left of the person.

Nicely atmouspheric shot ... bar the sign!

I think without the sign, it would be a plain shot of someone staring into the water, but with the sign, gives it some interest with no trespassing it gives the picture a sense of humor nicely done. :D

I think those two takes on it are both quite valid, depending on one's usual focus of study. Merely as a view of a slice of place and time, I think the sign adds an element of significance over all (as opposed to overall [g]). But the scenic chaser in me finds the sign more a distraction to the delicacy of the scene, and the consideration of the human element. If mine, I'd keep it for inclusion in a themed series, but it wouldn't place well along side the scenics on my wall.

The title conflicts me, though - if she was possibly contemplating the suggestion, not inquiring contradicts the subject line (the knee jerk impression being "as if you really care", but I'm not lecturing, mind you), and walking away to leave him/her to possibly execute the impression brings even more of a sense of indifference. As opposed to "Contemplation" as a title, as an example, which puts an entirely different spin on the presentation. It just struck me that way, and I offer that simply as food for thought when contemplating a title.

I agree with Bob's thoughts, with the sign but not the title I am wanting to know why she is there, is she upset at dropping her fishing rod, has she been pushed to the edge and needed somewhere private to contemplate her life or was she waiting for you to go so she could nick the jetty.
Without the sign its a beautiful image which she is just a part of.
Cheers I liked the photo

My choice would be to edit out the sign, but for a different reason than previously noted. I like the softer hues and warm colors of the image overall and think that the brighter tones of the sign distract from them. I think you'd have a completely different "feel" in the image without the harsh colors of the sign. (If it were mine, I'd try to keep as much of the dark post in the image though- edit as tight as possible to the sign itself.) Three steps closer and you wouldn't have had the sign do deal with....

Thanks for posting.

The older I get, the better I was....

I was taking some waterfront shots at 7:15am and actually didn't notice this person until I had taken about five other pictures. I have another couple with the figure in the frames but thought this was the most evocotive with the sign.
Sorry to say I only thought of her (if that is a girl) jumping after I had left.

Thanks for the comments.

I know exactly what you mean. It's nice to have a concept in mind when exposing, but often I find a scene compelling and just grab it, figuring out why later (and possibly seeing things later, not quite noticed at the moment there, for rushing it).
Sorry to say I only thought of her (if that is a girl) jumping after I had left.
No explanation necessary. I didn't believe you would think that and then dismiss it - I don't know you well enough to make that call, and I'd rather give the benefit of doubt on the side of compassion being a trait everyone carries, unless proved otherwise. :)
