X1 captures- A summary after 4 months

1. The camera has held up to the time test: I have used it regularly, and it has found a nice niche in my kit

2. The camera is not perfect: My vulcanite is peeling a bit. AF is still quirky, and no firmware update

3. IQ is gorgeous, better high ISO than either the M8 or M9, but the images are not quite as robust as M8 or M9 files, particularly when post processing

4. It's a great 1 camera-1 lens solution

This ain't my grandma's pointnshoot....

Many, many nice shoots!

I like them all.

BTW: I am waiting for the next generation of a X1 with some improvements (e.g. AF or better manual focus). I did the same with the M8: I waited till the M9...

Some exceptional images there. But I'm curious exactly what you mean when you say the x1 images are not as "robust" as those taken with the M8 or M9. Could you explain please? I find my X1 images to be every bit as strong as those I've taken with the M8 and yours are pretty "robust" as well if you don't mind my saying so.

Yeah, should have clarified. FOr some reason, I have found that I can push the images more (more adjustments to shadows, highlights, more dodging and burning) with files from the M8 and M9 than the X1. To me, the X1 is quite comparable to the M8 in terms of info in the RAW files. The X1 does suffer a bit of detail loss from the use of an anti-aliasing filter, which though, gains it better low light performance, so I am okay with that trade off.

Bottom line, it's an outstanding camera, a keeper, and sees regular use in my kit! Thanks for the kind words!

I particularly enjoy the musicians and the 2nd to last shot of the couple in the distance.. the latter being my favourite. Obviously the camera has some very capable hands around it.

Sorry to hear about the peeling, glad you have found the camera so useful.

The lady in front of the tomb; shows the strength of a 35mm lens at its best.

The second last shot somehow reminds of a Monet painting.

Sorry to hear about the peeling. I have similar issues with a Burgundy CM; could be due to strict use of environmentally safe materials. You know how the Germans are.

Just got my X1 a few days ago and am looking forward to it going with me when the other equipment is just still too much to carry for the day.

I am hoping the firmware update will follow soon.

Great series again! The first one hits the eye right away full force. The others are excellent too. I love the pic with that couple in a two colour world, blue and white. Can't find a trace of colour blindness in your pics, btw. (#3 is a fav too.)
