Hello..
I have question about old lenses for EOS Elan II system..
Does Elan II use same mount as recent EOS DSLR's like 50d or 550D?
Can anyone will tell me following lenses are any good for use with DLSR
Sigma AF zoom 28-80mm f1:3.5-5.6 Macro
Tokina AF 28-300mm f1:4.0-6.3
Thanks for all the help

Jay

Any Canon made EF lenses compatible with EOS cameras will work on DSLRs. Some (but not all) of the older EOS compatible Sigma lenses will not work satisfactorily - they need rechipping which may or may not be possible depending on the age and model of the lens. I haven't seen any reports of issues with other makes of older EOS compatible third party lenses.

Ok..i guess old eos lenses will fit in modern canon camaras..basically right?
I do not have any canon camera to test these lenses...
Are these lenses worth any?

Don't have any experience with the lenses the OP is talking about but when I first went to DSLRs (Canon 10D) I had a Sigma 28-70 2.8 EX lens that had to be rechipped.

Sigma was great about this and put in a new chip for free.

Don't know if Sigma is still providing this kind of outstanding service or not.

That Sigma lens is still working perfect today and has been used to take thousands of pictures (see gallery--I think all pictures were taken with this lens).

The Sigma may not work due to chipping issues with DSLRs and the latest film cameras - the Tokina should ...... Neither are worth bothering even to try however, they're basically junk lenses which were OK for 6X4 Film snaps - I'd sell them with the film camera for what you can get and start again ..

Shame you didn't get Canon lenses with the EOS50, there are some very nice old gems in genuine canon
