Sadly, my STF’s friends, we had another suicide bomber in my city Rishon in Israel an hour ago( 18:00 GMT, May 22).

For those of you who remember, ZivP, another citizen of Rishon, posted about the first suicide bomber in our city in the middle of Israel.

Right now, we don’t know any details on casualties, but we do know that there are about 20 wounded people and one dead.

Strangely, today, about 12 hours before, I was at the same place and I took some photos to share with you later this week. The place is a small park with a shopping and recreation street (no car zone, A pedestrian mall).

Here is one photo I took today 12 hours before, and below it, from my own window looking at the chopper circling around the area.

Thank you very much Dee, it is just mayhem right now. Everyone is in panic. My little cousin (14 years old) was at this place at the same time, she returned safely home thank god, but she is quite terrifying.

Right now, our entire phone systems are gone for the moment, I guess you are the only ones that I can talk to.

Ziv G, if you around today, please make your comment.

Update: The suicide bomber exploded himself on a group of elderly citizens whom were sitting in the park and playing cards.

25 wounded, 2 dead (not includes the suicide bomber), the police force are chasing a suspicious car.

Hoping for better days,
Gil.

Gil,

It's very important that you update us. Now everyone sees and hears who our neighbors are.

I was very sorry to read the bad news of Rishon. Take care.

I'm bewildered and saddened by the suicide bombings. Your picture of the market area looks so peaceful and benign - a place where children and older people would go to relax and congregate. To think that someone would go there with the purpose of killing themselves and others is hard to comprehend.

I wish you and your family and friends the best - and hope that peace will come to you soon. Mary

Thank you Yehuda.

News update: the Terrorist disguise himself with a short blond hair.

The car chase apparently is a wild goose chase; there is no real evidence about the green car spotted leaving the place.
30 people wounded (2 is mortally wounded), 3 dead.

Tomorrow, the Israeli newspapers will go black bold headlines again.

Glad to hear you are ok.

I've been on that street when it was packed with people, so I can only imagine the chaos.

My cousin and her family live two blocks from the top of the street, and I was relieved to learn that they are ok as well.

Take care,

David

Thank you Mary, we here in Israel having the same wishes...

Here is another photo of the park taken 12 hours ago (without any knowledge), the exact explosion place is just behind me.

Hello david,
Thank you very much.

Rishon Le Zion is the forth biggest city in Israel, and still, it is very small and for times like this we are all family.

This place is the place for elderly people to sit down and play card and board games the entire street is filled with coffee shops and restaurants.

I'm glad your cousin and her family are Okay, I guess it was difficult for you tiring to contact them due the failure with the phone system.

Gil.

Yeah, my cousin and her family were at her parents' house, in a different part of Rishon, for dinner.

I don't think people here in the US understand just how small Israel is, and how close it is to its enemies. In the distance I commute, if I were to do that in Israel, I would be in another country! Notice I didn't say time, because I know that in 30 minutes in Israel, you'd be lucky to go a few kms.

David

You are right, David.

For those who wants to know some distances:

My City is about 1.5 hour drive from Gaza strip (Palestinian territory) and about an hour from Nablus and the west bank. And just remember, Rishon is in the center of Israel just near Tel-aviv (about 20km, 15min drive).
In a good day, you can see the west bank from Tel-Aviv.

The distance between Jenin (a major place for most of the suicides bombers) and Kfar-Shaba (another major Israeli city) is about... a small hill.
Tel Aviv is about 20 minutes away from Kfar-Shaba and a hour from Jerusalem.
It takes about 6 hours to cover Israel from one end to another.
(All times not includes traffic jams...)

BTW, how long it is to drive from Orlando to Miami, FL? take that as a referance...

Gil, IN THIS forum, EVERYONE IS OUR NEIGHBOUR therefore everybody is important regardless of our colors, religions, languages, beliefs, and age or race. Unfortunately, in non-virtual these impossible to understant things happen much too frequently to our tastes. I am lucky to live in a place where peace is a way of life, a style of life (Canada). I am deeply touched about what's happening with all the wars, the loss of life, the hate that has been going on which sometimes are lead by a very small amount of individuals that don't care about inocent people. Whathever your beliefs, IT IS WRONG TO HURT PEOPLE ON PURPOSE ...

Take very good care GIL, and let us know about the rest of the details my friend.

Peace ...

I appreciate your kind words my Canadian friend.

We are all one big family, here in the virtual world of this Forum and strangely as it seem these days for some people, even in the real world. Sure, there are people who want to kill and destroy others for reasons that the modern man can’t understand.

I have been around the world, mostly in English speaking countries and I met many people. Some of them, by definition of politics are supposedly my sworn enemies… because we were in the same room / Hotel, we started to talk and become best of friends for the duration of our stay.

We all want to live in peace, but you are right about the individual extremist who thinks by hurting people he will get what he wants. That is our major problem right now in Israel; we are trying as hard as we can to stop these extremists without hurting the civilian population. Remember one thing, those terrorist are hiding inside the civilian population. We can’t do what has been done in Afghanistan. It is hard, it is difficult and we are trying and hoping for peace in the region. For now, sadly... it is a blood circle.

I must admit that I fell in love with Canada on my last visit there. Especially Vancouver area. The nature scenery, the wild life and of course the Canadian people.
Someday, I will return.

Definitely peace, my friend, for all of us.
Gil.
Take very good care GIL, and let us know about the rest of the
details my friend.

Peace ...
