Regarding the mating ritual of flashes, this need only occur once. After connecting my 3600 to my 7D, and setting the camera menu to wireless, once done, the flash can be removed, put away, taken out at a later time and used wirelessly without returning it to the cam. My 3600 has a "wireless" channel selection button. I use it all the time with no need to install on the hotshoe repeatedly. I'm not sure of the 5600 but I imagine it works the same.
