Favourite 5D Accessories ?

I agree about the RRS L bracket. I originally had the Kirk bracket which I think is a bit sleeker and closer to the body, but sold it and bought the RRS because ithe newer 5D L had the ability to have the E1 wrist strap attached on the non-grip L bracket. So--you gain a bit, lose a bit LOL.

Thanks for the brilliant suggestions .. didn't even know about the focusing screens !

Cheers heaps guys !

The camdapter straps are great. I have one on the 5D with the Swiss-arca plate. Ordered several plates for use on the camcorder, ABR ring flash and a lens collar. They mate to the quick release clamp from really right stuff on the tripod. Everything swaps around very fast.

DEMB Flash Products flash modifiers for a 580 and 430. Allows all kinds of different lighting from just the hot-shoe flash. The new Alien Bee Ringflash and the Canon ST-E2 IR flash control. Lots of choices for lighting in smaller packages.

The combination of the 24-105 ISL4 lens with the 70-200 ISL4 has been great for just about anything. The 70-200 is super sharp and great contrast.

A nice bag, extra batteries and CF cards. Firewire reader and a laptop. Lightroom and photoshop.

I also bought a rist strap, but never used it because it's not god for when you want to pick up your cam quickly and shot.
I had the Canon hand strap on my 10D, but removed it because it was
causing me to miss shots. Often, if I wasn't holding the camera at
the ready, and something happend that I wanted to capture, I'd
quickly reach for the shutter button, but the damn strap would get in
the way. After a few of these, I took it off, and I don't miss it at
all.

Take any advice given on a forum with a grain a salt. (that includes mine). Nobody is
perfect, though many claim to be.

Forget the straps, get a decent camera bag. As the others have posted, lenses, cards, software, etc. And yes, extra batteries and a second charger.

But for me, it's the gridscreen and especially the battery grip. You get vertical release, batteries that last forever, and a solid hold on the camera. The great thing is you can remove it when weight matters (a hiking trip, for example) and leave it on otherwise.
