My K10D and 18-55 lens will be here on Thursday! Yes!

You see I sent them back to B&H because the UPC sticker on the bottom of the box said Kit and so I thought they tried to pull a fast one by breaking up the kits and selling the bodies separate form the lens. Since any returns have to be postmarked by the 7th day I decided that while I was waiting to hear back from Pentax on this I would send it back in case they did try to pull a fast one.

Pentax said it was possible they broke the kit up, but they have never had any reports about B&H about that and felt it was more likely a sticker mix up. So I called B&H back and told them what happened. They agreed to refund the different between the kit with the 18-55 and what I bought which was the body with the 18-55 separate. There was a $29.95 difference and I will be getting that back.

Hmm... I don't get this. I thought you were totally freaked out by the banding issue that you did not see, and the auto WB issue you insisted, and the complete lost of trust in Pentax as a company and how various issues have been handled.

And now a sudden 180 degree turn?

Meh, give him a break.
I know I have my moments when dropping a grand on fancy electronics...

All we can hope is that he enjoys his new camera as much as everyone else seems to be...

Accept Robert for what he is, none of us are perfect. This is a major improvement in attitude and I sincerely hope it works out for him.

Maybe he likes the camera all the better for its "faults."

one would think the least he could do is apologize or at least a "mea culpa" for all the bad mouthing he did about Pentax and their lack of support, and their lying, etc etc etc...

I think you made the right choice.

But a tiny apology to the forum for some of your past posts might be in order too. I can't help wondering myself how Pentax can be "dead to you" and so quickly revived. Was it only about the $30 difference between the kit and the body+lens from B&H? That's a 0.3% difference in price!

Regardless, welcome aboard the K10D train. Hope to see some pics soon from that shiny new camera!

Congrats! As a brand new K10D owner myself, I feel your excitement!!! (It sitting right in front of me waiting for the battery to charge). While I, too, am a little** perplexed about your turnabout....hey, I won't complain....welcome! (I say little because it is a bit odd but it doesn't bother me that you had your opinions...)

I'm curious about the sticker thing too as I noticed that my box has a UPS sticker that says kit but I have the body only. Not sure if that is anything to worry about .

Anyhow...again, welcome!

OH NO!
Not you again, please I beg you send it back.

Actually, there really was no 180 degree turn. I still have very strong problems with all of those things. However, based on what is available in the price range and given that if it was legal I would marry the Pentax 10-17mm fisheye lens there isn't a whole lot of choice.

Robert

For its faults. Well, I can say I appriciate the K10D more for the faults of the other $1000 dSLR's available. When you sit down and really compare you realize two things.

1) None of the camera are perfect. Actually far from it. But, that is to be expected from anything made by humans. And, since god is not in the camera making business we have to settle.

2) The faults of the K10D are less annoying by far than the faults of the others in its class. The D80 feels awkward to hold, it has noise as well, I hate the menu and button layout on it. The Canon Rebel is probably the least impressive cameras given that you must compare it to the previous model which shows you aren't getting much with the XTi over the previous model. In fact the cameras offers very little wow for the buck. The Sony... well its a Sony, it is noiser. The lens situation isn't all that hot for it. Yah, it has some backwards compatibility but not like Pentax.

So with all of that and getting the kit, non-kit, screwed over with higher price thing out of the way. The K10D is the way to go. That and the two weeks I was without it I actually missed it.

Robert

I want to apologize for any name calling and bad feelings I may have caused while having my hissy fit over the K10D, it failings and the failings of Pentax as a company and they way the market.

Everyone happy now? :)

Robert

Seems like a lot of us. However, to Panasonic's credit the FZ30 is the first camera that I have decide to keep even after upgrading to something else. Usually I sell off before I upgrade.
