Great shots, I like the 2nd one most. Is that lens really so sharp or you used USM?

Hi Morris,

Nice set of pics, first one is lovely.

I have the same combo as you for birdie shots and I am interested in the settings you use as I am still experimenting with mine, Would you mind answering a couple of questions for me please?

Did you use single or continuous focus ?. I seem to get better results from single but it may be that my technique is lousy!

Are you using matrix or center weighted metering?. I have been using center weighted mainly but lately found that matrix seems better when using flash

What bias settings (if any) did you apply to the SB800?. I have found that -0.7 to -1.3 keep the texture of white feathers without blowing them out.

Many thanks

Steve V

BTW Do you use http://www.birdforum.net ? If so what Id, I post there under PicMan. some of the early ones are a bit ropey !

Morris - I like 'em all, especially #1 because of the sky. I continue to amaze at how you include the fill flash so effectively. Are you spot metering all of these?

I like Matrix when I use automation, otherwise I shoot manual.

I'm still experimenting with this as well. -2 in this case but I frequently use 0. Depends on the subject. In general I like to be about 1.5 stops below ambient.
Many thanks
