Hello!
I'm so sorry but I enjoyed a weekend without internet ;-)
So please let me say sorry for the delay!
Since this is my first challenge I hope I don't do anything wrong.
Before starting just visit the results-thread from challenge 82:
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1009&message=11293920
So here is the topic for challege 83: blurred and/or out-of-focus
Blurred and/or out-of-focus does not (necessarily) mean a failed image. Long-time-expose with moving objects or holding the camera where usually a tripod would be applicable can cause fascinating effects. Also out-of-focus could be very interesting. Use your flash if you like to freeze some parts of the image while others are blurred. Just a few hints for the beginning.
Due to my "internetlessness "during the past two days the challenge starts at December 5, 12am EST. And the deadline for submissions will be like suggested by Mike on Tuesday the 21st of December, Midnight EST.
O.K.? I hope you all can live with that - and again hope you'll forgive the delay! I will get my Nokia Communicator tomorrow so I'll never be again without my beloved STF again ;-)
GUIDELINES
These guidelines are meant to help things run smoothly for all... and to serve as a handy reference to answer common questions. Thanks for reading all this stuff again:
Due to vandal problems, the STF Challenge's galleries are no longer public
I hope you all will enjoy participating in this challenge 83 and soon forget how it started.
Since this is my first time hosting any challenges help and suggestions are welcome!
Regards,
Andi

GUIDELINES
These guidelines are meant to help things run smoothly for all... and to serve as a handy reference to answer common questions. Thanks for reading all this stuff again:
- Up to three(3) images are allowed in each of the two galleries (Eligible and Exhibition). Each photographer can choose whether to enter one or more photos per gallery. This should generally accomodate everyone's personal style and approach to the challenges...whatever works best to make the challenge more fun for you.
- You can enter photos anonymously if you want to. If you do, I'm asking you to send me an email indicating your identity for any anonymous entries. My address is in my forum profile.
- Those who prefer to have critiques of their photos be more "critical", feel free to mark the image title with an asterisk ( ).
- Please put your name(identity choice) and a unique title on each of your image thumbnails. It really helps to keep voting problem issues to a minimum.
- Please resize your images to no larger than 800 pixels on the longest side before uploading to pBase... can be larger if a panoramic image. This cuts down on too much usage, and it helps to preserve the quality of your image upload for best viewing.
- Please keep your questions and concerns posted in this thread for best response. One of us will address them as soon as possible.
- as indicated, challenge time period will run from 12AM EST (New York time) Sunday, December 5, 2004, thru Tuesday, December 21, 2004, at midnight EST. Time tables will be posted in the galleries. A separate voting thread will be posted shortly after the end of the Challenge period.
- Eligible images must be taken with a Sony digital camera...& within the challenge time period. The winner of this gallery will host the next Challenge. All entries should include a date indicating when the photo was taken..."exif" data attached would be ideal(if available). "Exif" data is a big help to a lot of viewers for a variety of reasons. If the "exif" data is not preserved, try writing it into your caption (by referring to the original photo's "exif" data that should be available before doing any photo processing). At the least, please include the date the photo was taken on all the eligible photos. This is a popular request...so I'm passing along your requests here. THANKS, everybody, for your friendly cooperation.
- Exhibition images can be obtained with any camera at any time. If you do not want to host the next Challenge, this is the gallery you should post your images to.
- Here’s a link to the stfchallenge galleries page:
Due to vandal problems, the STF Challenge's galleries are no longer public
- If you have your own personal PBase account, you should be able to post, edit, and, if you wish, replace your own individual images. You simply need to be logged in to your own Pbase account and click the "edit this gallery" link at the top of the relevant gallery screen. If you find that you can't do this, then you will need to send us your PBase Username (the one you use to login) to [email protected]. Do NOT send your personal password.
- If you don't have your own PBase account then you can still manage your entries via the same "edit this gallery" link. In this case, you will need to enter the password "stfpost". This will give exclusive access to your own images, and cookies must be enabled.
