Show us who you are and your home!

Morning Ben,

I was not aware that the Fuji Forum had a mugs site. Thanks, will search for it.

I did not say that I thought it was an unreasonable request, nor was that my intention. I just felt that since you were aware of the "Oly Mugs" site that it would be a simple courteous process to give the newer ( or those unaware ) members a link to it in your post without stealing your thunder.

If you got a little miffed by my footnote I am truly sorry. Again this was not my intention! I just think the efforts and expense put forth by some in the same realm as yours should also be noted out of courtesy.

While on that subject, I would like to add this site ( hosted by Bill H and contributed to by many ) which would benefit the folks here and other forums as well.

It has excellent tutorials in laymens terms without excessive "Technobabble"
that tends to confuse.

I agree that your post adds spice, but it would also be nice to know what the spice is being added to. ;-)

Please let us not forget those that came before us that helped promote this forum to the status that it is. They did it not seeking accolades, but in the true interest of helping.

Once again, if you feel I offended you, I apologize.

Regards,
Mickey

Hi folks:

Now there have been many variations of this on various webs, but I
have noticed that this particular forum seems to have a strong
degree of camaraderie, if you will - and also a strong sense of
closeness (at least for the regulars). Yes, we can be a protective
lot, but I think that comes from sharing common experiences -
centered around photography of course.

Let's all post photos of yourselves, along with photos of your
homes (wherever that may be). This is not done for bragging
rights, but rather to put faces with names, along with a "home
photo" showing our neck of the woods. This surely can work wonders
as we now can associate names with faces and the like. It so makes
the world a little bit smaller, wouldn't you think?

I'll be the guinea pig and go first (go easy on me folks, okay):

Here's our place in Fuquay Varina (outskirts of Raleigh), North

And here is where I often spend early evenings (when I can), having
a glass of wine and perhaps a good book or magazine, right here in
the back yard:

Okay gang, the ball is in your court - let's see who you are and
where you live!!

The problem when anyone posts a message is that it often becomes difficult for the reader to discern the mood or intentions that the poster had in mind. You sometimes wonder, "was he kidding," or "why did he/she have to go and say that, etc." I try to always first sit back and assume it was meant in jest - or to be helpful. I didn't get miffed in the least bit when I read your note.

Of course, from time to time, there is an unmistakeable reply that downright infuriates (they are few and far between, but when you see them it can raise your hairs on edge).

Your a class act - don't change one bit!

Ben

Here is a picture of my lovely wife & me, cropped from a photo taken at a wedding we attended yesterday in CT. (I was still directing the photographer how to use my C-5060 when the picture was taken) I turned 66 this past March, so I have a few more wrinkles than many [most?] of you)

Also included is a picture taken tonight of my home study here in Princeton, where we live. (Sorry 'bout the mess)

Neat thread, Ben.

Best, Ed

Hi All,

This has been a fun thread to read through. It's interesting being able to put names to faces and to see where people live. Here is my contribution:

This is a quick scan of a shot taken about 5 years ago of me and my lovely wife:

This is a more recent shot of me taken in our lab. I'm holding up DNA sequencing results in a futile attempt to look appropriately professionally scientific for our lab's web page (this is very tough to do in a t-shirt):

Astute observers will notice that during the five year span between these two photos, some of the hair on my head has managed to migrate down onto my face. lol.

As for my home, I don't actually have any photos of it...I suppose I should take some someday...

Kind Regards,
Brian

Y'know, although I am only 55 and still growing, I used to think back to when we were kids and the notion of just even reaching 40 was like a..."oh my gosh, that's a really old scenario." But times certainly have changed and as we get older we learn to appreciate life more, certainly have more fun (subjective of course), and I guess now we look at....errr, 90 and say, "that's old." Of course as we approach that age, we'll shift our attitudes again. The key here, however, is getting old and adjusting with technology. I know so many of my contemporaries, along with some older (and younger) acquaintances who malign computers, digital technology, etc. - gosh are they missing an important transition.

Thanks...
