Show us who you are and your home!

You must be very proud (I certainly would). See folks, this is what it's all about, so keep on posting. Let's get to know you.

Excellent theme for a thread, Ben!

Thanks to all that have posted so far to allow us a more personal 'look' at our fellow Oly members.

Here's my photo, taken by the reknowned photographer, Jim "Sandman" Henderson, with whom I had the pleasure of spending a day in the mountains a while back.

Not trying to copy CC's snow theme, but this is the best one I have of my home in the foothills of the Smokies! Thankfully, most of those powerlines are over on the hill from which I took this while sledding with the kids!

Ben,

Nice to meet you, I've always enjoyed reading your posts...

I guess if you live in your vehicle you are never lost cause you're
always home...

That's me, third from the right...

I think we lost Ergo and a couple others....

Nice pictures Ben. And a good idea for a thread.
Thanks to those of you who recommended pbase - I love the way it works!

So here is a shot of me (greetings from Minneapolis) I took today with a tripod and the 8080 remote.

And here is our sorry old house that had seen 33 years of owner neglect when we bought it. The inside is about 80% redone and we are starting the exterior remodelling and fixing in Oct. Will post a better pic next spring I hope!

Wayne

The house looks like it will be great when you get it finished. What a project to undertake. You should share some pictures of your work in progress and let us share in the experience.

This is me doing what I love to do....

And my very humble abode...

Brian

LOL....not a motel. Been doing this line of work for 16 years now.

Brian

Thanks for your interest Terri.

It's going to be a major job. This house is 79 years old and not very well designed from an architectural standpoint but it was built with very good materials - most of the interior trim is birch wood and every room has hardwood floors and plaster walls. We had a designer do the drawings to our specifications and the finished product will look very much like a true English tudor with an addition on the back and an attached garage as opposed to the separate one we have now. I'll post progress pictures as we move along - expect to break ground in late October. I'm dreading the mess and trying to figure out if I can work enough hours to pay this off!

Regards,
Wayne

please excuse the poor photo of myself. I usually don't let anyone touch my camera :)

Here's where I live

Hi folks:

Now there have been many variations of this on various webs, but I
have noticed that this particular forum seems to have a strong
degree of camaraderie, if you will - and also a strong sense of
closeness (at least for the regulars). Yes, we can be a protective
lot, but I think that comes from sharing common experiences -
centered around photography of course.

Let's all post photos of yourselves, along with photos of your
homes (wherever that may be). This is not done for bragging
rights, but rather to put faces with names, along with a "home
photo" showing our neck of the woods. This surely can work wonders
as we now can associate names with faces and the like. It so makes
the world a little bit smaller, wouldn't you think?

I'll be the guinea pig and go first (go easy on me folks, okay):

My family: My son Erik, ugly me, and my wife Jane

Here's our place in Fuquay Varina (outskirts of Raleigh), North
Carolina:

And here is where I often spend early evenings (when I can), having
a glass of wine and perhaps a good book or magazine, right here in
the back yard:

Okay gang, the ball is in your court - let's see who you are and
where you live!!

And this is where I am forced to live after the costs involved in defending myself proving that i was not responsible for her being in that condition.

Footnote Ben....

Other than wanting to see the homes, I know that you are aware that this forum already has an our mugs section graciously maintained by Bill Huber, and would have thought that you would have encouraged folks to add theirs there so it would be more readily accessible at any time.

This posting adds a touch of spice and adds a request to show where folks live - not an unreasonable request.

Not the greatest of photos. These were taken with my Nikon 990 before I got my 8080.

Me... I don't have many photos of myself to choose from (obviuosly edited for "artistic" effect)

House - the back yard

Hmmm... where are they? First time I've ever embedded images. Worked fine in the Preview. Oh, well...
