I am attending a RMSP photography course in early October and plan to purcahse a portable printer to proof my digital photographs. I was originally looking at the Canon CP-200, but like the idea of a portable Canon i80 printer with 8.5x11 format. Does anyone have any experience with the photo print quality from these printers. I currently use a Canon i9100 for most of my photo printing. I don't mind carrying the slightly larger format i80 if the photo print quality is good. I know the cp-200 is a dye sub and should be decent for photo prints. Any help would be appreciated.

BTW - I wil be shooting digitally with a Canon 1ds and 10d.

Hi,
I don't have either printer, but I'll offer this:

If you want bigger prints and don't mind that they may fade, I suspect the i80 is your choice. If 4x6 will do, the CP-300 is super-portable and the prints will last. I have the HiTi 630 and love it, a dye sub. But it's not nearly as portable as the CP-300. I took the HiTi to Central America and it was a blast, printing instant pictures for the people I photographed. The CP-300 would be much more portable, and battery-powered at that.

I'm tempted to pick one up, for travel. One neat thing about the HiTi printers is that you don't need a computer, and you can do some editing (cropping, resizing, etc.) right on the printer, using a hand-held controller. HiTi also just came out with a new version that'll do 5x7s and 6x8s. It's a big bigger, but it depends on what your needs are. Seems like a really nice dye sub printer. Good luck!
