Houdy folks!

Yesterday i went to take some surf pictures with my BIGMA (Sigma 50-500) and to try out my new 16-35mm 2.8 L.

I'm quite new with the 10D (Came from a PowerShot A40) and the first pictures i took 2 weeks ago seemed quite washed out in color at the time, wich i thought it was due to overcast sky or bad BIGMA optical quality.

All pictures were ok with sharpness and detail, but the colors... i couldn't believe that i had to give a +40 points of saturation in PS to a 16-35 2.8 L lens picture... One thing is for sure, it isn't the BIGMA's fault.

All the built in picture settings are set to default.

What am i doing wrong ? Should i bump up the saturation on the 10D ?

Thanks in advance

I went from a G2 to 10D and I thought that the pictures were a bit desaturated at first. Now I look back at the G2 pictures and they seem unnaturally oversaturated.

Having said that, the lens can affect saturation. I use the 24-85 for walkabout and a blue sky is never quite so blue compared with a prime.

I've never tried any of your lenses, but I need to adjust saturation too when shooting in RAW format or Adobe RGB color space.. Shooting in sRGB color space gives rich colors without post processing.

May we see smaples?

Coming from your A40, the saturation is boosted in camera heavily.

I normally choose AdobeRGB but if you want more "punch" straight from camera, go sRGB and adjust in camera to your liking.
