Incredible!!!

Brett, any chance you could get me one and send it to the UK for me ?
Prices over here work out at about $380!

Got me a 4GB MuVo today. Followed the directions at
http://www.pcconsultant.com/microdrive.htm and extracted the 4GB
microdrive. Only problem I had was that I could not fully format
the drive connected to my PC (it would error out at 50%). Thought
I was screwed but then I did a format in the D70 and viola! It
formatted and worked fine. Well over 1100 fine jpg pics (the
number is too big to display on the LCD) and around 600 RAW+Jpgs!
I shot both with great results. Transfer speed is fast, can do 9
fine Jpegs in 3 seconds and it only takes a few more seconds to
shoot again. I can do the same with RAW+Jpg but the buffer fills up
at 4 shots. Of course with single shots there is no difference
between the microdrive and a CF card.

Just too cool. Not bad for $200!

If you are wondering I bought it at Wal-Mart in Maryland! It was
the only one left at the Glen Bernie store.

I found the 2GB MUVO version for $119 in stock. Will this also work?

You check the capacity in My Computer if you are using windows, it should show approx 3.8 gig total space. The D70 only shows 378 remaining, but due to the compressed NEF, you will get around 600-700 shots per card.

My 512mb viking did NOT work, nor did my 340mb microdrive, but my 1GIG lexar WA did work. I ended up buying a 512mb Sandisk which works flawlessly.

. . . intend to use the card with.

Just what on earth is a 'lense'?

From the Webster dictionary,

Main Entry: 1lens
Variant(s): also lense 'lenz
Function: noun
Etymology: New Latin lent-, lens, from Latin, lentil; from its shape

1 a : a piece of transparent material (as glass) that has two opposite regular surfaces either both curved or one curved and the other plane and that is used either singly or combined in an optical instrument for forming an image by focusing rays of light

Both Lens and Lense appear to be acceptable. I use both :-)

Well, it ain't in the bible of the English language, the Oxford Dictionary, and I yet have to come across a "lense" manfacturer.

BTW you gear belongs in your profile and not your signature, as it will play havoc with searches there.

I have been looking for one of these for a while now no luck. Any idea where one can be obtained from?

Thanks,

I just ordered mine from Target for $199. I will be disassembling it when it arrives. Let’s see what happens. You have to take chances sometimes in life. The cheapest that I could find the 4GB Hitachi Microdrive was about $500. I will be extremely happy to insert this Microdrive into my D70 and watch it work once I remove it from the MP3 player. Having all that storage space while shooting RAW will be convenient.

sounds like transfer speeds must be much slower than the CF cards, thus allowing for slower continuous shooting... I'm not sure it's worth it considering the extra money you paid for the d70 to have the quick shooting!!!

Microdrives are very fragile. Drop one on the floor, even on to a carpet, and you have had it. CF cards are much more robust.

I will as long as my wife doesn't hospitalize me for throwing away $200 if it doesn't turn out right. If it does work out, I will probable buy 50 of those things and sell them for a profit. The wheels are turning.

I understand however if I am not shoot continuous, which I usually don’t; I can store a lot of images without changes cards. IF it does slow down my D70 and there is some action involved, I will insert my Sandisk Ultra II before hand. For relatively still photography I can go out of town and not worry about storage with a 4GB microdrive. First is first; let’s see if it works. I can't even get a good 1G compact flash type 1 for $199 say no less a 4G storage devise.
