What is our highest shot-count ?

Go to last post
Is this because:

1. You have not tested every possible 'defect' by shooting thousands of focus tests, etc.

2. You carefully consider if the image will be something that will be of lasting value before pressing the shutter release.
3. You have a life outside of photography.

10,000 on original shutter, constant error 99, i now have 5,000 on the new shutter. I of course delete some pics in camera so the count is probably slightly higher than that, i also took many pics without a flash card in to test the first shutter.

I've taken about 900-1000 pics since I got the camera two weeks ago. I love it so far. I've had to slow down to do process all the photos and work on 'em. :)

going to Athens for the Olympics this coming August. It is also getting warmer so I ll be shooting more so I expect to be at the 4k mark at that point. I hope it doesn't give up while in Greece.

I understand that not all shutters can be made equal but isnt a variation of 5000-50000 pics for shutter giving up a bit too high? What is causing shutter failure? Could it be that those made in Japan are better?

I'm on 12,500 or thereabouts. Flipped at 10,000 and my last shot was 2580 or something like that. I've probably had upwards of 500 or more developed. =)

not sure if the shutter was not defective from the begining and I had not noticed it because the problem was only seen at very fast shutter speeds.

what hapened to the first one with 20,000 pics? was it not still on warranty?

I swear, I bought the camera and the sun took a vacation. I've managed to steal and hour here or there with the limited sunshine we've had on weekends. Otherwise, I'd likely be around 3-4,000 by now. At this rate, the camera will pay for itself in the form of savings over 35mm rolls of film.. of course, with my SLR I'd be lucky to take 2,000 shots in a whole year.

Digital is liberating, no matter what camera you use.

I think that any number under 25,000 is unacceptable and makes me uneasy to be honest.

Yes, it had the Canon warranty, plus I bought it at BestBuy with their extended plan. After talking to some confused BestBuy employees, they determined it was coded for DEVO which I've learned is a BestBuy term for swapping the unit out for a new one. They did this twice.
