I suppose a few of you remember me, and that I sild my 10D to help fund my yet to be delivered MK II.

I found it hard to live with no DSLR, so picked up a nice little 300D to be a back up.

It was a fun little camera, but the lack of a couple things ( speed, for one ) left me a little cold. Took it back for a full refund.
Here's my obligatory cat photo, I'm back with a new 10D.

...that's perhaps the best kitty shot I've seen on here -- and as you know we've seen many. Maybe you should have kept that cute little 300D just for kitty shots.

I hope your and my Mark II's come soon!

You ordered a MkII, sold a 10D, bought a Drebble, returned the Drebble, bought a 10D, and are now waiting for the MkII..Wow I still have my old Kodak Brownie from my teenage years. Welcome back
Steve
I had to move up when I couldn't get flash bulbs for the Brownie anymore.

I understand your pain. Last year when the 10D was announced, considered it but I have my biggest commercial work in mid April (and again in mid October) and was afraid that I wouldn't be able to find a 10D in time for that. So--I stuck with my D60--and here I am waiting yet again to decide which way I'll go for my next body (the MkII is definitely in the running).

So--you couldn't stand it, huh??? LOL. Well, you can sell this one or keep it as backup. You really DO need a backup smile (I sold my Oly E10 last year and bought a lightly used D30 which has server me well).

I wondered about the 300d. I'm paranoid right at this point---I'm just about at the point of shutter failure based on what I know--and I really don't like to do these shoots without 2 bodies in my bag. I have a backup plan--buy a 300D (guess I won't now unless I can't find a 10D) OR a 10D, leave it in the box unless I absolutely need it and use the D30 (prints only need to be 8 x 10), then sell it as almost new and wait for my next body--and get the shutter replaced in the D60--which I'll do anyhow for a backup for the next body.

So--I guess I need to read the rest of the thread to see what precipitated this--except that you just can't be without a camera LOL.

I can't believe you couldn't stick it out for two more weeks. I hope it wasn't because of my April 1st. post ;-) Here is my son's little kity ->

Welcome back. I hope you know we're all waiting for you to get your 1D mkII so we can vicariously experience it through you.

Even though I've seen test pics, it's different when someone you know through the forum posts pics from a new camera.

Thanks Nill.

The 300D did ok for kitty shots, and outdoors, too. I have two full galleries devoted to 300D outdoor work at an event from last weekend. It let me down, somewhat, when I did some indoor work for the magazine. Just not fast enough.
I hope the MK II comes as expected, mid-April...now.
ps... the kitty in this thread was taken with the new 10D.

I know, it's hard.
So--you couldn't stand it, huh??? LOL. Well, you can sell this one
or keep it as backup. You really DO need a backup smile (I sold
my Oly E10 last year and bought a lightly used D30 which has server
me well).
It will stay as a back up. I won't get the grip for this one, so it'll be my "ultr-light" cam for family outtings as well as a back up. Yes, I did need one.
I wondered about the 300d. I'm paranoid right at this point---I'm
just about at the point of shutter failure based on what I
know--and I really don't like to do these shoots without 2 bodies
in my bag. I have a backup plan--buy a 300D (guess I won't now

the next body.
The 300D is ok, really. Nice and light. Just not enough fps and the lack of control over metering are what really got me in the end.
So--I guess I need to read the rest of the thread to see what
precipitated this--except that you just can't be without a camera
LOL.

Thank you Denise.

I have looked, briefly, at most of the images onlione so far. I will get my cam and go shoot. Just like I did ( and do ) with the 10D. Real world pix are what counts.
