Carrying a camera is always a great idea ...

Nice looking young women ...
Hello everyone,

Today was a great day. Why? Not only did a really good
friend finally break down and get a D70, but we met two beautiful
women testing out the camera. We decided to walk down the main
street in his local town and take pictures along the way. Him with
the D70 and me with the D2H. Upon returning to my car these two
women came running out of the restaurant I parked by and asked
"What was up that we were taking all these photos?" We said we
were just having some fun and they decided they wanted to join in.
They started posing for us in all kinds or positions. Then I
decided I would go for a decent portrait. I quickly opened my
backpack and got my 85 1.4 and slapped it on my D2H which already
had the SB-800 set up for fill flash. As we were packing up they
said they wouldn't mind making plans to do this again on a more
serious basis. Anyway I decided to post one of the shots. Hope
you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed doing it.

Can't wait to go back and meet up with Nicole & Nitzia next week to
drop off a print.

To tell you the truth the 85 1.8 & 1.4 are so close, but I have to say the 1.4 does it for me. If it's a cost thing, I got mine from Cameta Camera refurbished on eBay for $799.00 and it's a US lens. It needed a slight adjustment so I had to send it back when I got it, but otherwise iy looks absolutely brand new. I got a 200 micro from them and it's great also. If I was buying right now I would not buy this lens new since I believe there is a new 85 1.4 to be announced soon, including AFS and VR, so hold out for that one.

As for the 50, the 1.4 does not have rounded blades and the 1.8 is sharper. That lens does not have rounded blades either, so unless your willing to put out for the 45 2.8 P you will not get the same effect unless you shoot wide open. The 1.8 is actually a better optic if you can handle the fact it is not built like the 1.4. I say go for the 1.8. Yeves uses the 50 1.8 so check out some of his 50mm shots. There killer.

In the wide area the 28 1.4 is the killer lens, but it's Nikon's most expensive lens below a 300 2.8. The 35 f2 comes real close for about $200-300.

This time was just dumb luck.
All kidding aside, nice portraits and I'm intrigued by the ease
with which you describe casually finding attractive females anxious
to pose for portraits. Share your secrets and stories! I have a
tough time locating decent models.

what really got me into photography was being a musician. I always had my own ideas for framing concert photos and such.

well i made the switch eventually and let me tell you.........you see way more doing photography then being a musician. When i played out sure i would see stuff here and there, but with a d100 and hot shoe flash to make it look like i have some big pro setup..........i get flashed left and right and girls seem to want my number to call me for "an appointment".
Dude!!!!!!!
let me tell you.......

thank you nikon........
the true escort service!
lol

photoboothgrl and I know a "pro" photographer and at metal shows, he shoots the bands (film nikon) and gets wicked drunk and just shoots b00bs with his canon a400.
it's fairly disturbing to watch.

I think it was the D2H.

Geno
...I never have this type of luck!

Somehow, I think my wife will kill me, too. Could you imagine the
1001 questions? It'll be enough to commit suicide...lol. It's no
good being a dead photographer.

I wonder if it had anything to do with the size of
your................. lens?

Hi Geno,

I'm supposed to go to Austin on business again next week and then I'm going to the desert to study under Thom Hogan for a few days...but if you'll give me date and location I'll see if I can adjust my schedule and bring my d2h...Don't they always say two is better than one?

Great Shots!!

Regards,

Paul

That's all I can say. Thank god you have a truck instead of one of those stupid Cooper Minis.

Hope all goes well.

actually we both have smiles from laughing at it...

but considering his girlfriend was in sports illustrated swimsuit edition and has real b00bs, he doesn't really care...because if he did, i wouldn't be with him.

OK, which edition is it?

I'm a married man - and proudly so - and my wife is very understanding. You know the saying, "Look but don't touch"....lol....

And talking about real b00bs, I can say that I'm VERY happy with my wife's........and I care about them sooooooooo much......lol......
