SD10 on its way to me! Can't wait!

You and I both know that-- the salesperson didn't know that. Basically, I called his bluff. Hey, if they want to substitute for an EX and give me the other price that's fine as well...
saying my Sigma 24mm prime is on backorder
It can't be on Backorder, it's either there or not - Sigma don't
have any as they stopped making it about 3 years ago, Assuming that
it's this one and NOT the 1.8 EX, i've never even seen the 2.8 in a
Sigma catalog and have been looking at Sigma catalogs since the D60
was announced..

My $US1299.95 SD10 kit just arrived. I am formatting a CF card as I write this and hope to post some test shots soon. The price is $US1310 for 3 day delivery.

I am as happy as a pig in slop.

You never know, they MAY be just that stupid! .. I've noticed that they DO have a lot of VERY old discontinued Sigma glass, they must have bought all the old SA mount 90s groaners from Sigma at a blow out price - at least the 24mm is a winner though :)

They must really be wondering why the EX equivalent isn't moving-- even when suggested as a replacement...

This really isn't clear from the replies.

Seller said I would be getting body only. Imagine my surprise when i received the kit. I nearly fell on the floor.

Yeah, they must have accidentally put no reserve on that setup. I tried twice from the same vendor you got yours from and was never able to win due to the reserve. I finally got fed up and ordered from digitalfotoclub. Supposedly it is now on its way to me. I still haven't received a tracking #...
$980 with overnight for the kit!
Good for you!!!

I am happy with the price I got from digitalfotoclub, but they never sent me a tracking number. I ordered last Tue, my credit card was charged on Monday of this week and camera arrived on Wed. I called them on Tue. (as soon as they opened after my credit card was charged) and they gave me the UPS tracking number.

More of a communications issue than a service issue.

Erp... I meant Fotoconnection. I ordered the camera from Fotoconnection on Tuesday and received it on Friday(according to my mother in law)!!! Unfortunately I am in Israel and my camera is back in the States.

Thank-you Fotoconnection. I'll be ordering more fun stuff soon from you!

Digitalfotoclub.com has been a fiasco. I had to cancel my order with them. I ended up just getting the 50mm from B&H. I am one sad puppy who now has little hope of getting a 24/2.8 prime.

Ah, maybe I'll just save up for the 12-24 HSM EX. It's only around $650... very tempting.

Good Luck, Rick!

I just ordered mine as well. Gosh, I've been researching this thing so long that my wife is just begging me to "buy the damned thing already!" So the other night, after getting the relatively good news about my income tax refund, I clicked onto Adorama and ordered:

SD-10 Body
15-30mm EX Zoom
50mm EX Prime
28-300mm Macro Zoom
EF-500 Super Flash (w/ batteries & charger)
Filters 2 Sets (55mm & 62mm)
CRV-3 Batteries
RS-21 Wireless Remote
CR-11 Cable Release (yeah, I know, redundant)

Sure hope I didn't miss anything important ;-)

I just got word from Adorama that everything is in stock, and they're assembling my order so I should have it by mid-week.

I'm pretty excited! This will be my first digital camera since my old 1.3MP Olympus D-450 ... and my first SLR since college days (I'm not saying how many decades ago that was) So - hey, if I'm a quick learner AND I have some time, maybe I'll even submit to that "Sigma Shoots The World" event.

Again, good luck, Rick. Guess I'll be more of a regular here as I come up with stupid questions. But I promise I'll LOOK for the answer before I ask it. I've already found out that most of my questions have been asked (and answered) before ... which is why I seldom write anything.

I have been intrigued by the SD10, and have been reading this forum
for some time now. At first I was put off by the dust on the
sensor thing -- this is a nonexistent issue for those of us who
have never played with dSLRs before. But I was much reassured
after reading other forums, where I learned that dust on the sensor
is common throughout the dSLR community, regardless of camera make.
And it is easy to fix. Whew!

Anyway.... I ordered my SD10 yesterday from fotoconnection.com,
which I found with a "Sigma SD10" search using nextag.com.
Fotoconnection.com gets relatively high marks -- a composite of 4
out of 5 based on over 150 customer reviews. Their price was too
good to ignore, so I went ahead and took a chance on them. I
ordered the SD10, along with both of the new DC lenses (18-50mm and
55-200mm). The price, including lenses, was $1,349. Shipping was
another $20. If my research is correct, this is the best price out
there for the whole kit. (These low-ball "Broadway" outfits are
notorious for not including a warranty with their goods, but the
online ad states there is a 1-year limited warranty, and I made
sure to confirm that a standard manufacturer's warranty accompanies
the camera.)

They called me yesterday, to confirm my order and to try and sell
me on a bunch of other "good deals." But I stood firm and held out
for just the camera kit. There have been no further hassles, and
today I received an email with UPS tracking number -- it has
shipped and is on its way to me now!

OK, I'm not Rick, but I thought I'd offer my own $0.02 FWIW, this was one of the DSLRs I was seriously considering as well. But the following made me opt for an SD-10:

1) The price tag
2) Only 4 lenses currently available
3) The body and lenses are NOT significantly smaller than typical 35mm
4) Lenses are NOT any cheaper (as Oly claims they would be)
5) I'm not convinced that a smaller sensor is the answer
6) Pics don't look any better than the Canon 10D
7) Canon 10D pics don't look as good as Sigma
8) The price Tag (I know, I said it before, but it's worth mentioning again)

E-1? Many in the Oly SLR forum have over 2000 shots with nary a
speck of dust...
