hi guys im planning to buy this camera for portrait studio ,can this camera
with its resolution can do a 13 x 19 print size quality rivalring 35mm print
quality?thanks for all the help

Hello Ron

I am new to digital but have 35 years experience with film based work. I have also made hundreds of 13x19 images on my 1270 from 80 and 90 Mb files. I think that the S1 can give you very good 13x19 inch prints if you use the Tiff format. And if you could use the Genuine Fractales program for your enlargements.

But they are different in look than film images, very good but with their own look just as film based prints have their look. And 6x7, 4x5, 8x10 negatives and prints have their particular looks.

They may not look exactly like your film based portraits but here is the "kicker" Ron if you don't compare the two the Fuji S1 images will be just fine.

we shoot portraits all the time with the S1, usually output to A4 @ 250 dpi pegasus prints, shot on hi res Jpeg mode on the largest size (17.9mg). results are stunning and better than 35 mm film!

(if you shoot on tiff mode, i hope your client is very patient, as it takes forever to unpack the file, whether connected to the computer or not.)

we must try printing a bigger one to see what happens. the lab here in melbourne gives a really good deal on 20x32" prints, you just tile your images up on the page to fit. hope this helps.

We have printed thousands of 8"x12" and 10"x15" prints on our Kodak Multiprinter over the past few months from S1 images - we've stopped using film in the studio.... other photographers who have seen the results don't beleive the results!! The results compare well to very good 35mm or average 645 - and exhibit a look which is different to film - and most of the non techincal staff prefer it to film! As long as you don't overexpose.....

thanks guys for all the advise,do you guys think that fuji s1 and epson 2000 or 3000p is a good combo for portrait bussiness?? can rival studios like sears ,or any other film based studios?

3.4MP SuperCCD. How many prints were produced and admired? Oh please give me a 42MP BSI! :)
