Slik Sprint Pro

Is it possible to change the head of this Slik Sprint pro ?
I can change out the head on the Slik Sprint Pro that I just purchased. The head unscrews leaving a 1/4-20 stud protruding from the neck of the tripod. I screwed on a 1/4-20 > 3/8-16 bushing to test mounting other Bogen/Manfrotto heads successfully.

Oops, you're right! I didn't see a need for a different head and just assumed it couldn't be removed...

LoL, I wouldn't have known either, but tried unscrewing the BM quickchange, and the head came off instead, then I just had to tinker with it...

Another feature that hasn't been mentioned is that this tripod has a two-section center column. If you unscrew and remove the longer, bottom section, leaving the short section in place, the tripod will get down to ground level.

well, my tripod was just delivered today. can't wait to get home from work and try it out tonight with my G5.

Thanks again for pointing out this great deal. Hope lots of other people got in on it. I notice the availability listing on their website went from "Today" when I ordered last week to "3-5 Days".

But the great price is still available. Strange how the Silver one is $100 and the black one is $60. I wanted the black one anyways :)

Yup, this pod is definitely an innovative marvel, how about the rubber feet that screw up to reveal spikes, also reversible center column for macro work, the list goes on...

It's actually a very dark shade of green, close enough to be mistaken for black though...

I haven't seen this tripod priced at less than $79.95, anywhere, and there is no reason for there to be a difference in price, black vs. silver - every other store sells the black and silver for the same price. So my guess is that the $59.95 price is an error and PC Connection hasn't figured it out yet. When they do the price will go up to $99.95.

I ordered the slik sprint pro from PC Connection 2 weeks ago and it is still listed as on back order. When I ordered it it said it would usually ship in 3-5 days. Just wondering if anyone has ordered this tripod from PC Connection recently and if they have received it yet. I have talked to customer service and they said they were supposed to be in on the 5th of May but they are still listed as backordered. From what I've read, this is supposed to be reputable dealer, but now I'm beginning to wonder.

I ordered mine from there quite awhile ago but had no issues, it came fast. Sorry I don't have much experience with this dealer. I don't think you have anything to worry about at this point. Try calling again and see if they got more in. If you are still uncomfortable, can you cancel at this point?

As usual, YMMV + caveat emptor.
I would suggest that the short answer to your question is maybe, but probably not. I recently acquired the tripod after seeing it in a local camera store and I note that the maximum camera/lens combination weight rating is only three pounds. For that very reason, when a friend wanted to borrow my new tripod for use with his film SLR and Canon IS lenses, I turned him down.

Good luck with your decision.
