>>CTF Challenge #48: A New Point of View<<

Hey Guys,

After hearing from a few concerned challenge participants, I think
it is best that we reduce the allowed number of entries to 3. I am
sorry if I caused any problems by changing that number for the past
2 challenges. I definitely do not want to cause any future problems
for the challenge galleries.

I think that for whoever has already posted 4 images in the
galleries as of now, they can remain. It would be unfair to ask
people to remove a posted photo I think.

Once again, I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused
anyone.

As the only person with 4 entries in the eligible and none in
exhibition, I will move one to exhibition. Just having a hard time
deciding which one.

I made my decision for now. I also created a mini theme of the three images. Can anyone tell what it is?

Hi everyone,

I hate to play "parent" (and on such a lovely Sunday morning as we're having in Southern California) but...

I want to remind everyone that the size limit on images for the challenges is 150K or less. If you are not sure how to do this, please ask and I know that people will be happy to help out.

We're trying to manage our bandwidth and also make it easier for dial-up users to participate in the critiquing and voting.

Back to photography!

Thanks,

Paul

Gayle,

Thanks alot for the kind words. I always thought the same thing about the sony challenges! I am so glad you brought it up, as I was beginning to feel that i was the only one who thought that. I am not sure why this is the case though, it cant be that sony cameras are any better than canons, so i am wondering if more exprienced photographers choose sony cameras or something wierd like that? Its not like the camera you use really matters that much. Anyway, I agree that the STF galleries are a great place to look for inspiration.

regards,
Andreas
Andreas, congrats on winning the last 2 challenges, very well
deserved! And no, I am not planning on shooting in black and white
from now on.....my world is full colour and that's how I like my
photos. But B&W does look pretty awesome for some shots. Probably
means I'll never win another challenge....but oh well, I can live
with that.

We are still in the Macedon Ranges and ohmigod, it's cold here! But
we're having a great time with our friends and I have taken a LOT
of photos.

Off to check the galleries for inspiration, and I think I;ll check
out the STF ones too. They are always a source of inspiration for
me. If anyone has time to spare (like a few hours) the STF
galleries are surely worth a thorough browse. In my (not so humble)
opinion, they have the very best photographers on dpreview enter
their challenges.

Sony imho is more expensive than canon and that combined with the memory stick restricts it to those who are probably more "into photography" As Gayle has proven it is not the camera but the photographer that makes the images. I like both the sony and canon cameras.

Thanks a lot for the answer!
After posting, I tried and found out exactly what you say
Thank you for your time:-)
What can I do to have my EXIF info showing??
If you're using PhotoShop or PhotoShop Elements do a "save as" and
it will retain the exif info. If you do a "save for web" the exif
is stripped.

Ditto! Thanks for that both of you - I had pondered why I didn't keep my exif but not enough to worry about it.

What is going on here? Did everyone go out and take some photography lessons without me? If the purpose of the challenges was to increase the level of abilities here, it has certainly succeeded! I cannot believe the gorgeous shots in both galleries! There is such good stuff in there that I'm not even feeling inspired, I'm feeling defeated and left behind! First of all, I've hardly been shooting at all in recent weeks b/c I've been so busy with other stuff, so I'm losing ground, quickly. I've been doing some reading but not had the chance to put it into practice. I think I'm going thru withdrawal!

Lonnit, simply overwhelmed!

and offer your comments. The fastest way for me to learn is when you tell me what I'm doing right and what I'm doing wrong, what you like and what you don't. I welcome all opinions. :)
