The Trump tariffs have hit!

I bought this Sabrent dual docking station from Amazon on 3/22/25 for $37.30.

A friend wanted to buy one but today it's selling on Amazon for $49.99. Wow, a $12.69 increase in price in less than a month. That's a 34% increase in price. 👺
Amazon Prices jump up and down all the time, add an item to your basket leave it there and see what happens.
I always have many items in the "Maybe later" section of Amazon. I do get messages of price changes for any of those items but they are small changes usually a dollar or less. I don't recall ever seeing a large increase in price like $12.69 or anything even close to that. So my conclusion is that large increase in price was caused by the Trump tariff. YMMV.

Large jumps usually come when Amazon is out of stock, and one of the 3rd party snipers with a steeply higher price show up instead. These folks look to take advantage of the unaware shopper.

But when Amazon itself jacks the price 30%, there's a reason.

This was posted to wrong person. Meant to add to my original post so removed this post.

The Trump tariffs appear to be affecting my ordering of a remote control from the online Chinese store Aliexpress. The remote control for the 65" LG TV set in our living room died so I tried to order a replacement from Aliexpress.

I've been ordering remote controls at low prices from Aliexpress for years and the remotes always worked. Today, the remotes to replace the one I need says "This product can't be shipped to your address." I live in the United States.

So as a test, I searched for a programmable remote that I previously bought from Aliexpress. Same thing. It says "This product can't be shipped to your address."

It appears that the Chinese store will not ship remote controls to the US now.

You might try Amazon - even if they've stopped receiving stuff from China they may still have some in inventory. Stock up now!
Since I need a replacement remote for our living room LG TV set, I did order one from Amazon. It cost me almost twice the price that I could have gotten it from Aliexpress.

Now that Trump started the war with Iran, I guess oil prices will go up resulting in higher gas prices. Things are turning to s..., or to put it more mildly, things are really going downhill.

The US stock market ended higher today, oil dropped 7.2%. Many are hoping that this will end the war Iran initiated and has been prosecuting for the last 40+ years against numerous countries. Should this be the case, we're still stuck with the tariffs to contend with.

Everything financially is in flux right due to Trumps tariffs trade negotiations. The US stock market is like a coiled spring right now, especially any stocks tide to the military or AI. The tariffs are just temporary. Pent up camera demand due to tariffs will cause a rush to buy new models when they come out and those already out. This will cause price pressure on camera gear.

The pent up demand for photography gear will create a sellers market, not too unlike when a new and desirable model is announced. Manufacturers are in a bit of dilemma today - build inventory to maintain manufacturing supply chains, plants and people, versus conserve cash.

Tariffs will continue to be a moving target for sometime. One can hope that as photography gear represents such a relatively low value in global trade, hardly affecting any US manufacturing, that favorable deals might be made.
