R5ii pre-order shipping thread.

My local brick & mortar camera store is holding a "midnight release event" tomorrow - opening at 10PM and beginning sales of the R5 II they have in inventory at exactly midnight. First time I've ever seen anything like this for a camera.
 
Often, with time-embargoed products (Fexed 2 days), companies ship 2 days before the product availability date. So, I decided to check in with B&H today.

I checked earlier this morning, and there was no status change. But I just checked and the status had changed to; New Order - Estimated Delivery Pending.
What was it before? I think for most of us, it changed some time ago. Mine currently says "New Order - Coming Soon, Will begin shipping 2024-08-20". On July 30 I received an email, which stated, in part, "Thank you for your purchase of the new Canon EOS R5 Mark II at B&H Photo! We appreciate your business. The product you ordered is currently on pre-order, and the confirmed ship date is August 20, 2024." I believe the state of the order online has remained the same since then.
The new part was "Estimated Delivery Pending." Before, it just said New Order (and maybe coming soon, but it did say the part about "Estimated delivery pending").

Note: It only says the "Estimated Delivery Pending" on the page with all my orders (and not when I click on the R5m2 order. It still as the extra battery on backorder.

As far as I remember, you ordered yours several hours after me and got the email later. They are probably working things in the order they were received.
They might tell me they will give me a new date sometime soon, but more likely, it looks like the camera may be on its way to shipping today for delivery on August 20th.
I doubt it.

No, I would expect to see a charge when it was in the shipping process. I'm figuring that once they have pulled one for shipping, they will charge for it. Then again, it is just a guess. They might change everything and send an email at about the same time.
I figure others might want to check today on their pre-orders.

Since I am only 1hr away from B&H, I am expecting my order to be shipped out tomorrow (19th) for delivery on the 20th. The extra batteries and eyecup that I ordered are still showing backordered but ETA of 8/20. I’m half expecting the batteries and eyecup to be shipped as well. By late evening tomorrow, I’ll know for sure if I’m getting it on the 20th.

I could drive in NYC to get it but NY taxes are higher than CT plus I would have to pay toll fees so I rather save the money since I bought extra batteries (3).

Not that I'm aware of. It's crazy, I haven't seen such anticipation for a camera body release as I have for the R5 II. Concert tickets, iPhones, video game releases, Black Friday sales, yes. A $4000+ camera? Never.

OK. From your original statement it sound like the fact that the Payboo card was not charged was evidence that it is shipping. I would say that is evidence it is NOT shipping.
 
Update on my Adorama pre-order: The update is there is no update. No change, still shows backordered. I talked to a store rep and he wouldn't give me any info. Said they don't know how many units they will get and can't give any info regarding my place in the queue.

Very disappointing since they obviously know how many units they have received and my place the queue.

Ordered about an hour after pre-ordered opened on the first morning.
 
Have you sent Adorama a request for a status update? I never did so with B&H because I saw the R5ii list as "new order" with the grip and batteries listed as back-ordered". So, I'm assuming (I hope reasonably) that all is well for the 20th for you.

Perhaps Adorama isn't cutting that distinction in their order status. But I gotta believe that they are in the top, major-market retailers and are ready to fulfill orders as early as yours.

I would be feeling the same, if it was this stage and I hadn't received some indication of whether I would get my gear next week. Good luck, give Adorama a query.

Either they didn't want to risk it getting to me a day early, or they couldn't ship on Sunday. But they are shipping in advance on August 20th, assuming it will take time to get to me.

My card has been charged for both the cameras and accessories (extra batteries, eye cup, and hot shoe cover). Order is showing "in process" but no delivery date yet. All items say they will ship by August 20th.

I have charges for the R5 II, Battery Grip (BG-R20) and Cooling Grip (CF-R20EP). I also ordered three extra batteries and an eyecup (ER-kE) but those have not been charged and the status remains as “back ordered”. I’ve ordered from B&H many times in the past, so based on past experiences, anyone who has had their card charged and the status changed to “In Progress” should expect a tracking number by this evening.

Karl, I have a question about what you meant by your statement that your Payboo account was “charged”. Mine shows the R5II order as “in progress” and my Payboo shows that charges have been authorized and deducted from my credit limit, but it shows that I still owe $0.00 (nothing) as yet on the account. Despite that, my extra batteries, part of the same order, have already “shipped” with a solid delivery date. Is the Payboo charge you see on your account the same as mine?

Since you asked, I've looked at my Payboo Account in more detail. I see that the charge is listed as "Pending," which lowered my available credit. I'm guessing they rechecked my credit since it has been a month since I ordered and have put a reserve against my credit. I assume that once they pull the camera and send it to FedEx, it will show me that I owe the money. I have it on autopay from my bank because I would never want to pay the ridiculously high interest rates.

The fact that they reserved the charge indicates they intend to ship today. I was just using the PayBoo activity as a sign that B&H was about to ship.

Same here - also, I ordered a card a couple days ago. It was supposed to be delivered yesterday, now shows to be delivered this morning.

Since other people are mentioning card details, my available credit went down by the amount of the camera, but my account balance went up by the amount of the card I ordered a couple days ago. I'll hold off paying it until I receive the camera, probably on Thursday.

Same here. My Oder changed to “Order in Progress” and my Payboo account shows a decrease in my Credit Available, but the charge shows as “pending”. That is normal on all credit cards, since they show a “Pending” amount the instant they receive any notice from a vendor, but the actual details usually take a day or so to hit the account.

Interestingly, I recently (4 days ago) ordered an extra battery for my R5II. On the B&H site it still shows as “Backordered” but the OPayboo account has had the &79 deducted from my credit limit.

Regardless of the exact specifics of what ships and exactly when, this is a clear sign that it is all coming very soon!
