I thought we could start a thread listing our pre-order date/time, dealer, shipping notification, and delivery dates. We can update them as things progress. It'd be interesting to be able to compare deliveries across retailers.

If we can all stick to a format of Retailer/Date&Time/Shipping notification (Y/N date)/Delivery date.

I'll start:

Amazon, 7/17 0600 PDT, N, NA.

I actually committed to a Canon R5 Mark II pre-order in early February.

I received a confirmation on July 17th. No shipping date promised.

I ordered the RF 200-800 last fall before the official November announcement and received it on February 1.

I ordered from Hunt Photo in Massachusetts and have always tried to deal with them for the last 15 years. They are an excellent organization.

I know I often talk to myself but you shouldn’t worry since I rarely listen to the conversation.

For the first time in my life, I actually did the seemingly obsessive pre-order thing: got up at the too-early-for-me hour of 5:30 AM to log into my B&H account in time to, fortified by my first cup of coffee, order the R5II at almost exactly 6:00 AM. I guess I now have joined the ranks of people who I used to observe with mild ridicule camping out overnight in front of Best Buy to buy the newest iteration of their video game system. I did want to get the R5II as soon as possible to fill the hole created by my recently sold R5. I threw to the wind the usual caution that I followed when ordering new cameras only after any possible initial bugs have been worked out. I haven't ordered a camera right at introduction since February 2001, when I ordered two Nikon 1DX's and got them from the very first (still had Japanese language menus on them - I had some "pull" with Nikon USA back then) shipments into the US. That worked out, and I'm hoping this will too. Fingers crossed.

I sure hope chrisis doesn't have a copyright on his post...

Ordered from Canon USA 6/17 @ 6:03am EDT. Email confirmation arrived a few seconds later w/ no ship date noted. About an hour later received “update” saying estimated ship date is 8/20 with the usual disclaimers.

As with all camera related pre-orders, not holding my breath. I’ve read Canon ramped production last month so hopefully there will be decent supply at least for everyone who ordered in the first few hours after pre-ordering went live.

My “nightmare” would be the camera arrives on 8/20 but the new batteries are delayed.

I also pre-ordered on from B&H 07/17. When I saw that shipping was stated to start in August, I contacted support concerned because I didn't want it to arrive when I'm in Canada in the first half of August. I got a return email stating shipping is scheduled to start on 20 August, as per statement from the manufacturer. I was also given a link, but that date was not on the link. Anyway, I'll be back home before the 20th, so I won't have to do anything special. I won't be surprised if they are back-ordered for some time.

Most of the functions should work with existing LP-E6 series batteries.

Hard to tell if it's just a method of spurring pre-order demand or not. Guess we'll find out in about a month.

It's probably shipping with 1 in the box. You might survive :)

Update to my pre-orer.

Well, it's Amazon, and I knew what I was getting into with them. I was about 2 hours behind the initial Amazon pre-order opening (they opened theirs a little late, and under a weird name other than R5 mark ii), and there's still time for shipping to be adjusted as is often the case, but the new estimate kind of sucks.

Cool.

No updates on our pre orders.

I ordered July 17 from BHPhoto. BPhoto's email gives a "confirmed" ship date of August 20th (at least, that is how the email seems to read - see below).

I tried to buy mine right after 6 AM EDT, but I could not find my Payboo Card number (it was misplaced). This is the first time in years, if ever, the website has asked me for the number). I eventually got it ordered by phone right after 8 AM EDT when the store opened by phone. From the email I got, it looks like I will get one from the first batch that ships on August 20th.

Quoting the email:

Thank you for your purchase of the new Canon EOS R5 Mark II at B&H Photo! We appreciate your business. The product you ordered is currently on pre-order, with the confirmed ship date of August 20, 2024.

My main concern, and why I jumped on it early, is that I have big plans in mid-September. So it would be timely.

I ordered from B&H a couple of hours after the announcement (which was 4AM my time!), and got an email saying the 'confirmed' ship date is August 20. I just got another email from B&H today, which still lists the 'confirmed ship date' as August 20. So I am hopeful, but not counting any chickens.

I ordered around 9:30 local time so 10:30 eastern time. What's probably in the same portion of my confirmation email is:

Your order will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis.
Orders billed to PayPal, other digital wallets (e.g., Apple Pay or Google Pay) or non-USA addresses will be charged immediately upon checkout.

Or maybe that's the difference between ordering online vs. ordering by phone.

Interesting - the website seems to be changing. The day after I pre-ordered, I sent in a query about when it was likely to ship, because I couldn't find any info online. I got this response:
Thank you for contacting the Sales Department at B&H Photo Video and Pro Audio.

The Canon EOS R5 Mark II Mirrorless Camera is expected to start shipping on Tue Aug 20 as per the manufacturer: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1840289-REG/canon_6536c002_eos_r5_mark_ii.html

Please let me know if you require any further assistance.

Thank you for choosing B&H.
When I followed the link, there was no ship date mentioned. Notice in the text, above, it says "start shipping". However, following the link now, that previously didn't mention a ship date, now it says shipping August 20 (not start shipping). That said, I have not received an email with a confirmed ship date mentioned.
