That is a concern because ultimately (?) all W10 users will have to update to W11Hi, I had a cannon pro 100 and bought an epson 8550, I really like the 8550, only problem I'm having is getting the epson print layout app which I'm told is excellent, I can't get it to work on my windows 11.
I'm using Epson print Layout on Win 11, no issues.Hi, I had a cannon pro 100 and bought an epson 8550, I really like the 8550, only problem I'm having is getting the epson print layout app which I'm told is excellent, I can't get it to work on my windows 11.
Ouch! Not good. Thanks Ian, I have heard that it can be used on win 11 that's why I'm persevering, I'm thinking I might have a virus problem because strange things have been going on lately, like when I click on some photos up pops the download "epson print layout" and when clicking on other things the same thing keeps happening.
At the very least you should be using Windows Defender but if not have you got an Anti Virus program installed......even if only one of the free ones? Thanks Ian, I have heard that it can be used on win 11 that's why I'm persevering, I'm thinking I might have a virus problem because strange things have been going on lately, like when I click on some photos up pops the download "epson print layout" and when clicking on other things the same thing keeps happening.
Oh oh, here we go...As far as I can see there is nothing in the link you posted to back up your statement?
Keith Cooper advises the ET-8550 is NOT archival but certainly doesn't suggest prints have a life of 4 weeks. Have you had personal experience with this or can you supply a link that makes this assessment?
Cheers

I looked through A74Me's old comments, and they are mainly based on personal experience. However, I don't see any evidence at all that he has direct experience with the ET-8550, or its inks, despite saying in one thread that the images fade in "less than one week".As far as I can see there is nothing in the link you posted to back up your statement?

Reminds me of the jinx (curse) that has apparently been put on @bmw44 , who has gone through five Epson P900 printers in two years...I looked through A74Me's old comments, and they are mainly based on personal experience. If his comments are to be taken at face value, he does have an awful lot of direct experience, using multiple printers and ink types, with prints fading, or with other forms of paper, print, or ink damage. It happens to him with unusual ease compared to what we hear from most users. I do have a non-technical and entirely rational explanation for that: it's a jinx.

Please can you link directly to mention of the Epson 552 inks (used in the ET-8550) which I surmise that you found faded so very quickly.https://www.printerknowledge.com/threads/epson-claria-standard-ink-502.15440/Reminds me of the jinx (curse) that has apparently been put on @bmw44 , who has gone through five Epson P900 printers in two years...I looked through A74Me's old comments, and they are mainly based on personal experience. Sorry I am not sure why you replied to me with the information about a US source of the ET-8550 inks.
because i have an epson office printer that uses the same ink. a guy at our photography club has the 8550 so im going to get a print from him and do a side by side test with my pro 200 same paper ect. so we will have a difinitive outcome. if the epson stacks up i will buy one if not my new pro 200 will be my main printer, i still have test prints that are now 6 months old from the pro 10s and my pro 200, would you like to make comment on how you think the test images are going ?Sorry I am not sure why you replied to me with the information about a US source of the ET-8550 inks.
What I hope is that the poster (A74me) I replied to will qualify why he posted a link, apparently in regard to his claim about rapid fading, that as far I read it......does nothing of the sort!
Same as the 502 inks in the linked discussion?because i have an epson office printer that uses the same inkSorry I am not sure why you replied to me with the information about a US source of the ET-8550 inks.

Hopefully he is using OEM inks and can provide you a print on Epson paper(s). a guy at our photography club has the 8550 so im going to get a print from him
I have no idea what your Canon prints look like and why should I speculate! But surmise based on your invitation to comment, that they are fine.and do a side by side test with my pro 200 same paper ect. so we will have a difinitive outcome. if the epson stacks up i will buy one if not my new pro 200 will be my main printer, i still have test prints that are now 6 months old from the pro 10s and my pro 200, would you like to make comment on how you think the test images are going ?
You already said the following about the ET-8550, so no further tests would be necessary. Certainly no one is urging an ET-8550 on you, or inviting your self-imposed wager. They engage with you to counter probable disinformation, that's all.because i have an epson office printer that uses the same ink. a guy at our photography club has the 8550 so im going to get a print from him and do a side by side test with my pro 200 same paper ect. so we will have a difinitive outcome. if the epson stacks up i will buy one if not my new pro 200 will be my main printer
