Sony A7CR £350 or 11% reduction from £3,199 to £2849

Sony A7C II £100 of 4.8% reduction from £2,099 to £1,999, Can be found in black at £1,929 for £170 or 8% reduction

Sony A7 IV £300 or 12.5% reduction from £2,399 to £2,099 plus £300 winter cashback on top. Total £1,799 vs £2,399 £600 or 25% off

Sony A7R V £130 or 3.2% reduction from £3,999 to £3,869 plus £400 winter cashback. Total £3,469 vs £3,999 £530 or 12.5%

Quite interesting to see models released just few months ago going through a price reduction. Especially the A7CR has had a material adjustment, the camera was available in store end of September or even later if I recall.

I got an A7C II myself and I was not expecting the price drop

I guess something is coming or sony is reacting to a slowing down market, not sure!

Interesting. I have been wondering if price reductions are coming. I bought an A7CR a couple of weeks ago at an Australian$1000 discount to the regular price here. It was via a quiet little three day promotion from a reliable retailer. Unusually, the promotion was online in small print below the usual price, that I was lucky to spot. The deal is no longer on offer. It got me wondering about a possible official price cut coming up.

With Black Friday sales and Sony cash back, a lot of GM lenses have been a stones throw away from grey import pricing. If you're a VAT registered business, it actually makes it a fair bit cheaper - the first time I've ever known this.

I can't see that reduction here in Sweden, I just checked. Under the black week period only one shop lowered the A7CII/A7CR a little.

Can it be due to exchange rates vs the Yen?

Something's tells me that it's to anticipate the release R5 Mark II. I just ordered A7R5

Maybe those particular models weren’t moving at the price they were released at?

Sony Australia has dropped prices (sometimes before the product ships) a few times recently - maybe they managed to hedge their exchange rates at a better price? Or maybe they didn’t get enough pre-orders?

We may never know why, but a price drop is nice (unless you already paid the old price).

I got the A7CR for AUD$3600 a few weeks back too. That's only about £1900 so those UK prices still seem inflated to me. Perhaps they are just bringing them more inline with the rest of the world?

Yes that is what I paid as well and it wasn't even a Black Friday special. It was cheaper than the lowest I could see it in the USA even without adding on postage and duty to bring an import into Australia.

Wow, that's incredibly low, what is the current price? You could nearly buy two for the price of one in the UK!

IMO they were too expensive to begin with - we get ripped off here to the point of Australians feeling sorry for us (and they get ripped off themselves) and with less disposable income after the crazy inflation earlier this year as well as elec/gas not falling back to sensible levels , they may be finding they`re not selling well .. Also love it or hate it, the Z8 has made an impact on the hi-rez pro body market too and Panamoz are doing prices on high end Sonys which really put official; UK prices into perspective .

I picked up a mint boxed low mileage warrantied A7R-IV from a dealer for £2000 less than the A7R-V fully discounted and cashbacked price above - Yeah the RV update stuff is very nice indeed but far from pivotal even for my Job let alone for most enthusiasts and there are a lot of mint used A1s out there too at RV pre-cashback price for those who need real high performance as well as decent rez ,.

Mine cost some $300 Australian less than that advertised price. Yes, it included local taxes and postage. Most Australian retailers I can find are charging from around Australian $4500 to Australian $4990. I'm curious about the wide variation, that's unusual, but I have no explanation.

UK VAT is 20%, Australia 10% I think so the $4990 seems about right with extra 10% would mean we should have UK prices around £2800 for A7CR max, which ironically they appear to be dropping to. But these are discounted prices not retail which is another 10%+ above that so we are definitely getting a bad deal in the UK and europe, but we knew this already. We are not called rip off Britain for nothing!

Anyway, its more complex as used prices have remained strong(ish) and its all relative which is probably why they don't want to be dropping too low as the used prices become more expensive than knew, which was the situation on a lot gear, all manufacturers over the past week. This must be a challenging time for companies like mpb and wex who have a lot used stock at premium prices.

This is highlighted now - the A7-IV is £1799 inc cashback - mint used ones START at that price and rise up to £2000 !!, the A7R5 used situation is similar .

when speaking to dealers about this , they just say "this always happens, when the prices go back up, the used ones will sell" . rather silly IMO . the whole point of Black Friday Used to be to lose the baggage which isn`t selling to get the "account back into the black" (hence the name) , this was often done years ago by clearing out used gear and thesdays the bigger UK dealers have tons of used gear and given that they only pay £600 for a camera which they`ll sell for £1000, there`s plenty of wiggle room for clearance . but they`d rather sell more new ones for less, some of which will no doubt come back and end up Openbox .. senseless .

Cameras are now selling for $3700 Brand New. Canon's 45MP Full-Frame CMOS Sensor camera is selling for $3000, Brand New. So maybe a new bar is being set.

It might not just be about holiday savings but a continual overall slowing of the overall Camera Gear Market. Once the Holidays are over, we should then see a clearer trend.

In Australia the price advertised includes all taxes, and while the official retail price for the A7CR sits at about AUD$4500 (£2350), the street price now seems to be about AUD$3900 (£2030), eg:

I lived in the UK for 10 years and would often buy cameras and computers from Australia as it was much cheaper.. or even fly over to NYC and buy them in the States, again they were cheaper there than in the UK.
