the popup ads are driving me away

Here's where it resides much of the time, but it's unpredictable - it just sneaks in but it's always in motion which is the most distracting part. If it wasn't video and you could click on it to open the video it would not be quite as distracting.

Bob and Garry...

I poked around in my browser settings in Firefox. Under Privacy and Security is "auto-play"... mine is set to Never... I guess that is why I rarely see auto-play video... (I've removed these 2 exceptions, seem illogical..)

Sounded great till I reaized you said in firefox - I haven't used firefox for years and probably won't go back. Thanks anyway

It's not a pop-up.

It is within the same interface group as the "Latest Reviews" and "Finished Challenges"

It's pretty annoying on my Windows 10, 1920 x 1080 full screen Google Chrome browser.
I'm not seeing anything like that - just a bunch of ads scattered around.
If you're not seeing it what are you viewing the site with?
Win 10, 1920x1080, and Chrome. I haven't installed any blockers.

IMO, "auto-play" is not inocious, in fact it is potentially disastrous.. a really good virus vector.

I would hope that any web browser has the ability to turn it off. You just have to find out where in your browser...

Im getting the lens test by Shaminder on autoplay, ads i can tolerate but i dont like dpreview choosing for me what i should be interested in, especially autoplaying things and not checking with me if im even interested, its like dpreview thinks i HAVE to be interested and MUST see it.

Did you turn "Autoplay" off in your browser settings?

Problem solved?
I think so i have not seen the autoplay in awhile.

I have been unable thus far in finding an option to turn off autoplay in my edge browser. shucks

Thank you very very much - that at least seems to have stopped it from playing automatically for the time being anyway but it's still there. I can live with that part. probably looked at that setting a thousand times trying to find it. - Thanks again.

Now wonder if that will have any affect on dpr just hanging up and stopping - you finally have to just shut it down and bring it back up. (getting frustrated, just a bit)

Well, I have multiple DPR forums open as separate tabs continuously and don't have that probe... Firefox.

So far it seems that getting that video stopped from automatically opening has also possibly stopped the dpr site from freezing when interacting.

SecondTimeAround is a miracle and super knowledgeable. A savior to old men.

Switched to Edge browser and I don't see the FEATURED VIDEO expanded so there is no obnoxious video that is always playing.

I'll be curious to see if that fixes the constant page hangs.

So far on two machines changed edge preferences to stop videos from automatically opening and no auto playing videos or hang ups since on either machine -fingers crossed. Video is still there and sometimes overlaps threads, but I can handle that as it is not moving video of this guy with some huge lens wandering aimlessly around my screen.
