HI to all!

I keep an eye on FujiRumors site and DPR, but at the moment there is no indication for such camera.

I own X-T3, but if little brother of X-T5 is coming I really consider to replace my X-T3, because of the new raw tools, simulations and eventually IBIS.

As I know X-T30 I/II has already most of the X-T3 functionality. May be I will miss only the second card slot.

So what is your opinion. Will X-T50-like camera be released and what will be the differences than X-T5?

Regards!

Hi,

Fuji has followed a similar pattern with the X-Tx0 bodies in relation to their bigger brothers. They've been released 6 to 12 months after the X-Tx counterpart, have featured basically the same body so I wouldn't be suprised if the X-T50 keeps the same body design (this might mean there won't be any room for IBIS or a better EVF). Not only will there be no second card slot, but also no WR, no two-way tilt screen and it's unclear if the 40mp sensor will trickle-down to lower-end bodies. The rumor that the X-S20 will reuse the 'old' 26 mp sensor makes it likely that the next X-Tx0 body will use that one, too.

If I were to guess, I'd expect the X-T50 to have the same body design as the X-T10, 20 and 30 - which isn't bad as they all use the same hand grip attachments and leather cases. Same EVF as before, perhaps they'd reposition the Q button as many have complained about it. Also, it'll feature the new processor from the X-H2(s) and X-T5, but I wouldn't be surprised if it features the new 40 mp sensor but with no IBIS (to differentiate it from the X-S20). Battery and card compatibility will remain the same.

Eventually lack of IBIS will be sad. WR, not 50MP sensor are not deal break. If the screen is similar to the X-T3 - no problem.

Looks like I have to wait and see.

Hi,

As Yoan has said, if Fuji are true to form, then it will be released in time. However, I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for it. The XE4 and X100 have been almost unobtainable for a year, ostensibly because Fuji has supply problems with components. No-one has ever said which components, but if the same components affect other new lower level models, it's just possible that it will defer them too.....

Regards, Rod

Personally, I would've preferred 26 mp and IBIS in a body that's slightly larger than X-Tx0 cameras. However, I doubt Fuji would want to change the basic body shell of this line of cameras and I don't think it would be possible to fit IBIS in it.

I'm not so sure... I truly think the X-S10 (and upcoming X-S20) have replaced the X-T40/50.
However, I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for it.
Indeed.

Well, that's not exactly true. The X100V orders have been being filled slowly. They are not in stock, but if you aren't too stubborn to put yourself on a waiting list, you will get one in a few months. As for the X-E4, I was able to buy it right off of B&H´s website (in stock) less than a year ago. Now, it is discontinued.

We will see. Perhaps the older components were something that was made by specific companies that are no longer in business due to Covid related problems of the past years. Going forward, Fuji will ensure they have supply for the cameras it builds. It´ll take time to sort out. It is not an easy time for the industry and is not a Fuji only problem. Fuji cannot help that its cameras became more popular right at the time the industry is struggling.

The X-T50 will definitely not be released... but the X-T40 might be. 😀

It really depends on how well both X-T30s sold compared to the X-S10.

You might be right on that John. I don't know. I guess it depends on whether they plan to have a more entry level classic control camera or offer PASM only at the lower level.

I've also sometimes wondered whether the XS10 might for some buyers have replaced the XE4. Fuji stripped it down a but far. If you add the Fuji grip and add-on thumb rest to the XE4 you get a camera weighing about the same as the XS10 (and without the IBIS). I don't think it does quite the same job, because it won't appeal to enthusiasts of the RF layout, but it might appeal to those keen on light weight. Which also in some ways makes the XE3 a better option because it weighs less than the XE4 and doesn't need the accessories.

They've barely been available here for about a year..... I've never even seen one in the flesh in a B&M store.

Thx. I hadn't read that covid was the driver. I'd read about floods and factory fires affecting various industries, but had no idea which was affecting Fuji.

Cheers, Rod

I think he may have been assuming they'd avoid 4.

However, Fuji has used 4 before...

I think if you add too big of a grip to the X-E series, you ruin it for many people. Almost every camera has a grip and believe it or not, some people aren't into grips. I'd rather the unique designs stay unique and hopefully do not become Sony style.
However, I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for it.

Yeah, it is true...they sold everything they could make quickly. I got lucky. I think it was hard for Fuji to put its scarce parts into an $849 camera when they can be used elsewhere in more expensive cameras.

Well, let's not forget cell phones, film cameras, AI, etc all affecting photography as well. That said, I think I see an uptick in people going from phones back to dedicated cameras this year.

While Fuji did jump from X-A3 to X-A5 for that reason, they also released the X-E4 and X-T4.

Yes, I am well aware. The interesting thing is that the X-A series was not manufactured by Fuji. They also skipped X-A6 though...

I am going to guess that they won't bring out an X-T50. That would be the predictable thing to do. But Fuji sometimes do the non-predicactable. Who predicted the X-H2S before it was announced (or leaked)?
