What's the likelihood of a 'full-size' mirrorless body?

How much more "full size" do you want over the Z9?
I quote from my original post:

"What do you think the possibilty of a Z10 or whatever coming out with a D850 size of body?"
Yea except a D850 isn't "full". It's more like 3/4 full or full-ish. Everyone points to the Z9 because it is as full as it gets.

Someone mentioned the mirror box, but if we look at the comparisons, the mirror box affects the depth of the camera. There's also the height of it from the pentaprism and the OVF.

Maybe they can grow the grip and body size of the Z7 a tiny bit to meet the size of the R5, but it won't be as big as the D850 was because we lost the OVF.

A Z7ii with a Z-GR1attached is essentially the same height as a D850 without the (claimed) clumsiness of a vertical grip.
I don't know who said "clumsy". I did say "awkward" in my original post because that is how I feel about the majority of accessory grips I have owned. I am allowed my own opinion, aren't I?

Regardless, that still gets away from my original post, I was just curious about the possibilty of a larger (D850 size) mirrorless body.

I never said once that I have an immediate need for a new body, my current cameras will serve my purposes just fine.

Yep, and the heading of my post said 'full-size' with ' ' marks around full-size and then I qualified that by saying "D850 size of body" in my post.

Sorry for any confusion this may haved caused you.

That might explain it. I honestly don't remember the model, but it felt very uncomfortable, the EVF was horrid, the AF worse than my Z7 by miles - I think between the Panasonic mirrorless and this body, the worst most uncomfortable body, just a tool I would hate to use.

I only had a short time with it - maybe 30 minutes - gear swap when I met someone who wanted to play with some stuff I had, while on a trip. I didn't need 10 seconds to know I hated it though. So maybe it was the early one. It did feel un-polished.
I rented one and did not care for the UI either. CDAF only, and no IBIS. The 102 MP models have PDAF and IBIS.

Z9 is a beast, a great beast but must be manhandled even with great grip/ergonomics.

my vote for the BB (i am one) is a Z mount mirrorless street camera, ideally a rangefinder with hybrid EVF.

keep the body/lens weight down.

my favorite was D2Hs (built-in grip was/is extension of my hand)

I don't have big hands but would be happy with a slightly larger body than the Z7 if it allowed Z9/D850 type controls, Z9 tilt screen, better card door, bigger EVF, built in GPS, and "Proper" WiFi and particularly the D850 style of vertical grip.

Oh and going forward please can the chargers, for whatever batteries they use, be PD USB C like the MH33.
Ha, saw what you did there. That package you described needs a bigger battery capacity too and so you have just described the Z9 ;-)

Zero.

Nikon can't even get a freaking Z8 out in anywhere the time frame they needed to, you think they've got the ability to make a bunch of different body styles to suit every need? No way.

Buy a Z9 or stay with your D850.

Plus, remember, the overall market is shrinking, meaning since "full size" bodies aren't universally popular, you're not going to see one from Nikon other than the top end pro model.
I hope you're wrong, but I'm also in agreement.

Most of the “I wish Nikon would make” posts over the past year or so, have been asking for just the opposite - full size Z9 features in a smaller/cheaper body.

Yours is the first post I’ve seen for another larger body. I’ve seen complaints about hands not fitting the existing Nikon Z bodies, with the recommendations to add battery packs or tripod mounts to the body - much as you’ve received here. If this forum, along with several other Nikon focused forums is any indicator of interest, I’m guessing you are out of luck with Nikon.

In the alternative, you could always opt for the existing pro model - the Z9.

When Nikon first developed its new mirrorless bodies, someone/some group, determined what the next step down body was going to be spec’d - much like they did with the D800/e compared to pro Dx models. While the 810 and 850 varied some, the commonality was clear. As with the II versions being similar to the original Z’s. I’d guess the next Z/850 range camera, a step down from “pro”, wouldn’t vary much.

Wouldn’t look for it. But no matter who on this, or any other, forum posts truthfully no one outside a select group in the western Pacific has a definitive answer.
