Has anyone updated there lens yet? Did it effect performance on any other camera bodies besides the a7rv which seems to be the main reason for update?

That usually means “we fixed some bugs that haven’t been worth a firmware update, but now we have a reason for an update we’re including the fixes” - probably small or cosmetic.updated but not expecting any improvements on non a7rv bodies

Well, I tried this evening on MacOS with my A7R4 but the downloaded file decided I was short a driver and then gave a dialogue frame full of Japanese. I'm not that bothered about learning the language to fix a problem I probably don't have. ;-)Has anyone updated there lens yet? either my eyes are playing tricks or the IS with the A74 has been improved when shooting video. It seems the lens is fight the OIS or IBIS less. I just upgraded to the latest firmware on both body and lens and seems better.Has anyone updated there lens yet? Just updated. I shoot with an A7R4. I've seen plenty of instances online that speak of the R4 and the 200-600 not playing nice together. It has happened to me once in a while as well. Images just looked soft. Not motion blur, not OOF. Just oddly 'soft' Took a couple of shots just now with the FW update, and they seem sharp and crisp:Has anyone updated there lens yet? Yes.Is it easier to do with a PC running Microsoft than a Mac?

updated the FW to version 2 this morning - plug in - rund and after finding mass storage in the menus a matter of a few seconds - easier than in my memoryIs it easier to do with a PC running Microsoft than a Mac?
Gary Payneeasiest way with an Intel based MAC is to use a VM with a contemporary version of Windows and do it from there.
- Sony FW Updates: YES
- Rest: NO
Sony has issues with all kinds of software - it’s an engineering driven company - which is a good thing to start with
I'll be the guy and guess that you probably had more light after the upgrade...Since I wanted to understand the differences I focussed on two different distances on my balcony this morning before and after the FW update.
Reust:
So the algorithm got most presumably a bit tweaked in a way that the AF works better on my A7R IV - at least visibly - not not take pictures from BIF but I am sure I will see no big problem in case the AF works slightly better - since it was already good as it was.
- less hunting
- before the FW Update the closer object got a bit hunting in half of the cases
- after the FW Update the focus acquisition was almost immediately with minimum hunting
- AF works in a different way
- before the FW Update the AF drive run almost silent with continuous back and forth moving of the focal plane
- after the FW Update the focus is more in audible steps and seems to work faster
Less hunting at close objects is a welcome addition to an existing lens design.

I've been holding out on doing this, as I've already had great results with this lens + a7Riv. Today found your post (hard to find anyone commenting pros/cons re: the update with this body) and decided to give it a go. I did a simple before/after test with dim lighting in my basement with pictures on the wall, face detection and Human Eye turned on -- with one picture in particular the AF would lock on the face but NOT lock onto the eye in the dim light (repeatedly) before firmware update. Afterward it does lock onto the eye, consistently and repeatedly. So I see that as a good initial sign of improvement. Looking forward to giving it a go with BIF, etc. Thanks for posting your results!updated the FW to version 2 this morning - plug in - rund and after finding mass storage in the menus a matter of a few seconds - easier than in my memory
