Not only there is no more charger in the box of the XH2s, now there is virtually no serious manual. And the consultation of the Fuji site is not really better. Anexample : how saving the Q menu after it has been modified ? I finally found how.

The details related to CFG for AFc only appear on the site, etc ...

At this level of price, I just find the service much lower the average.

Comprehensive physical manuals shipping with products is a thing from two decades ago.

Electronics not shipping with chargers is a newer trend to reduce electronics garbage. Everything charges with USB now so you seriously don't need a separate charger for each device. If you honestly don't have a USB charger in 2022, it's time to buy one. And that *one* will charge all your devices.

Fair point.

Not fair. My X-T20 shipped with an extra charger. My X-T4 didn't. In camera charging is definitely not an alternative to an external charger. So I bought one. The Fujifilm charger was nowhere available back then, so I went for a Nitecore.

UK X-H2s ship with usb wall charger with options for 3 pin/2 pin clip-on electrical socket compatibility. A quality usb-c to usb-c cable with protection is included for direct connection to the X-H2s and also can be used to power the X-H2s without draining the battery.
now there is virtually no serious manual.
On line pdf is very comprehensive.

It‘s more than 3 years between the launch of the 2

back in 2017 we still had those 5W chargers which would charge a phone overnight

in 2020 the phones were charging via usb-c at 100W and the smallest charging bricks or power banks with PD can deliver 30W

now even laptops charge and can run on usb-c power. It makes absolutely no sense to give a charger with any new electronic device, unless it‘s something super specific

i wholeheartedly approve the decision to NOT include a basic useless charger

I support limiting the plastic garbage mess, but would really like to see standardized battery designs to minimize buying chargers one needs for external charging. Is it possible that three (main) standardized sizes and power outputs could be utilized and one charger (with changeable plates) could accommodate all three? Done across manufacturers, this would be a great advance in efficiency.

"The fact is that relatively few photographers ever master their medium. Instead they allow the medium to master them and go on an endless squirrel cage chase from new lens to new paper to new developer to new gadget, never staying with one piece of equipment long enough to learn its full capacities, becoming lost in a maze of technical information that is of little or no use since they don't know what to do with it."
A Great Quote by Edward Weston...

When I bought my X-H1 it came with a charger. This was lucky as it was my first device that used a NP-W126S battery. Having to go out and buy a charger before you can use a new and not inexpensive piece of equipment is unforgivable IMO. By all means reduce the supply to a simple battery socket that can be used with a suitable USB power supply if you want to reduce waste. Charging in-camera is not a good idea IMO so I have bought a Nitecore USB charger for use on holidays rather than use adapters.

I can do away with the printed manual, but no external charger is something I still would like. Thankfully, the third party market has much better options. Having multiple batteries, a simple USB cable to charge is not a good solution.

There is no excuse, non-whatsoever, for manufacturers not writing and making available a clearly written manual in most languages drafted for consumers not technologists or engineers. The ever increasing complexity of cameras, the increased features, and, notably, the multitude settings, with many being condition of other settings, means that, in my opinion, manufacturers should devote resources to providing a clear, well written manual. However, they do not, in the digital era, need to be hard copies.

Of course, the absence of clear manuals offers a commercial gap to be filled by writers writing/selling 'how-to' books, many of which are excellent.

Not shipping paper manuals for technology related products should be the norm. Why? Because people buying technology, such as phones, computers and cameras, are probably sufficiently online-savvy to link to the manufacturer's website and find and download a PDF version of the manual (if one has been written as it should have been) or bookmark a link to it.

Go paperless and save trees!

Given how many people here seem to prefer charging in-camera, or who are at least content with charging g in-camera instead of with a separate charger, removing the charger from the box was the right decision. The same goes for the printed manual. These are truly optional accessories.

The surprising cost of the manual and the charger is in logistics. If they include a charger then they need separate SKUs (product bundles) for each market with a distinct wall plug design. And the box has to be large enough to accommodate the most horrendously giant wall plug designs.

Similarly the printed manual. But, in addition, they have to trade off page count vs. helpfulness, and limit languages supported. We should get a better manual when it is online-only. (In practice, I frequently am learning from YouTube videos instead of the printed manual.) Note that the printed manual also has a huge delaying effect on launching the product, and it also has a negative pressure on adding or improving features with firmware updates.

That said, every store selling these cameras should be offering to bundle a charger as part of the initial sale, whether it is an online store or brick-and-mortar. And every brick-and-mortar store should have a training benefit with a $2,000+ camera—either formal or informal, free or paid.

I'm not speaking about the power supply unit and USB cable. That's not the problem. Everyone has enough of it.

But about the device that accomodates the batteries during charging. If you don't have one, you cannot charge independently from the camera.

Not only are online PDF manuals better for the environment, but they are far easier to use too.

Eliminating the external charger also benefits the environment. Fuji has settled on just two battery sizes. If you are running several batteries and need an external charger, odds are you already have one from your previous Fuji body. If you are not burning through multiple batteries in a day, USB internal charging can easily keep up.

Fuji should go even further and eliminate more from the package. Why are shoulder straps still shipped with their cameras? Why is there a silly plastic cover for the hot shoe? Who doesn't already own a fistful of USB C cables?

I would love it if the only thing in the box was the camera, a battery, a body cap for the camera, and a cap for the battery. No papers, no cables, no straps, no extra covers or caps.

My X-H2s included a USB charger and cable both of which went in my spare parts draw as I have better.

There is a PDF download of the manual, my preference as I can search it. There is also a web version of the manual that some seem to like.

Ya, and give us two CF Express Type B card slots so that we don't have to overflow onto slow 20th century storage. We can donate that SD cards to those who love them.

According to the manual the X-H2S comes with a USB Power Adaper, not a charger. This is only for in-camera charging.

Hi,

I had to do exactly the same thing. In-camera charging is totally inadequate because you can't use the camera. Nor can you charge additional batteries. I have USB chargers, but it's the bit that holds the specific battery that is missing. My Nitecore charger seems to do the trick, but the omission of a charger by Fuji hasn't changed the fact that I needed an extra device and had to buy it. It seems like a cost cutting exercise to me....

Even better would be the Type A slots that Sony has adopted. They lack the absolute throughput of the type B version, but they serve double duty by also accepting SD cards.

After all those years of Sony pushing their silly Memory Stick format, I think this is the first time I have ever been envious of a Sony card slot.

Yes, not so powerful USB Power Adapter. Why include this and also the USB C cable which is good quality. The camera is the charger. This is a much better sollution:
