Please reply to this post with your own post - but change the [Title] of your reply to reflect your subject(s). If you want to say something about your image(s), that would be welcome.

Remember, you don't have to only post images you took this month - sometimes people don't get around to processing images immediately after they shoot them.

Commenting on other people’s images is encouraged! If you post an image, please try to comment on other posts as it keeps everyone interested and coming back.

(We’ll aim to provide some feedback - but we’re generally away for part of each month. The absence of a response from us does not imply any criticism whatsoever!).

Finally, please post in accordance with DPReview community guidelines.

Thank you!

Some images from a recent-ish stay in the Lake District, Cumbria, England.

Shot raw, processed - and occasionally fiddled with (sometimes seriously).

(S/w: DxO PhotoLab 5 Elite, Lightroom Classic, Photoshop and Topaz DeNoise AI).

Sizergh Castle, near Kendal, has been home to the Strickland family for more than 800 years. Extended during Tudor times, the castle is based on a 14th century solar tower.

Castlerigg Stone Circle, near Keswick, is among the earliest British stone circles, dating from around 3,000 BC during the late Neolithic period. Only 38 of the original 42 stones remain.

View across Eskdale to the Hardknott Pass. Considered by many to be Britain’s toughest climb, it is very steep and technical with a poor, deformed surface. Some 1.4 miles long, it climbs 894 feet, with an average gradient of 13% (maximum 33%). We both cycled up it. :-)

Part-way up the Hardknott Pass is Hardknott Roman Fort (Mediobogdum), founded under Hadrian’s rule in the 2nd century. It was built to guard the pass and subdue the locals.

Lodore Falls, near Derwent Water in Borrowdale, tumble more than 100 feet and were ‘a must see’ for visiting Victorian tourists.

Approaching Rosthwaite from Watendlath in Borrowdale. The BBC’s Weather Forecast had indicated a ‘slight chance of light rain by late afternoon’… - and then we all got drenched. :-D

Couldn’t get square on to this butterfly, it always landed at an awkward angle, and I didn’t fancy arguing with the brambles 😬

Called a Gate Keeper as they are usually seen resting on gates in the countryside.

I wondered why the ball kept getting bigger, then it hit me.

I think that you are getting a lot of diffraction, that is killing fine detail, with that combination. That combined with noise and its reduction. You might be just about safe with a x1.4. Worth an experiment if you have both

It does show when magnified. Fine insect hairs are the devil at the best of times.

Nice shots. I lived in England for three years and traveled to a number of great locations but never made it to this area which I see I missed a great opportunity for lovely photography like you have shown.

DPR sadly does nasty things to images, although not a perfect 💯 this shot looks much better viewing the jpeg. You can see individual hairs on the body of the Butterfly.

I thought that original size meant that it was the image posted without changing it

Merlin tells me that this is a juvenile red-tailed hawk. They don't get the red tail until they mature. This one was hanging around the yard. I'm not sure what the bird was hunting since most of the squirrels have disappeared since the hawks took residence.

I took these shots with the R7/100-500 combo, which works well. I believe I get significantly more reach with the R7 than with my R5, but I haven't tested. It definitely helped here. Some of these are cropped down to 6MP.

Went camping with my son at Blue Lakes in California. Was a great time and the weather was just perfect. I had a timelapse of the milky way but cut it too short because i didn't think it would turn out as there were too many clouds at the time. Oh well, going camping again this weekend, maybe ill get lucky again.
