Camera operates the same as before; no real difference that I can tell.
To help you, my friend, I just upgraded my P1000's firmware to v1.6. Succeeded.I've never have any problem in updating firmware of every camera, EVER! P1000 from the first version to this one, the same.
Now when I put the prepared card (SanDisk Extreme Pro 16G) in the camera, nothing happens. Of course I tried different cards, repeated the entire upgrading process several times, the same problem.
I gave up, I think I'll wait for the next firmware version
If you have any ideas, thank you very much for sharing them here,
All the best,
Augustin
Make sure "firmware" is a folder, not a file. There is a single file "firmware.bin" in it.Thank you very much, my friend, for your quick answer and help!
That's EXACTLY the problem: at point 3, when I'm inserting the prepared card (formatted, with the "firmware" file copied at the root level), nothing happens, just
saying "Version 1.5" and nothing else, like it wasn't a card for upgrading!
I repeat, I've made quite a lot of firmware upgrades and NEVER got this
All the best and happy shooting,
Augustin
Also, make sure you formatted the SD card with a filesystem format recognizable by the P1000. The best way is to format it in the P1000.Thank you very much, my friend, for your quick answer and help!

At least you have a working firmware version: 1.5. Did you use the same SD card for previous firmware upgrades?saying "Version 1.5" and nothing else, like it wasn't a card for upgrading!

While there indeed are Google search results showing a "16GB" version of the SanDisk Extreme Pro, it's quite old a card and I do recommend a new card. "8GB" and "16GB" usually belong to entry-level, slow cards like the SanDisk Ultra. The SanDisk Extreme Pro should start at 64GB.I've never have any problem in updating firmware of every camera, EVER! If 7-Zip shows the same SHA-256 checksum for firmware.bin on your SD card as I said (91F5976E137D7F78AFEB525D16B28555EFE1BD2A964C5BAD0898299C38CDB44B), and you did put firmware.bin in a "firmware" folder (all lowercase) in the SD card's root directory, I don't know where the problem is.happens. I've formatted the card into the camera; I'm always making like that when upgrading. Also, make sure you formatted the SD card with a filesystem format recognizable by the P1000. The best way is to format it in the P1000.Thank you very much, my friend, for your quick answer and help!

Then make sure:You're quite right, my friend, but I've tried the upgrade with a brand new Lexar card also.
All the best,
Augustin
Maybe that's the problem? That's EXACTLY the problem: at point 3, when I'm inserting the prepared card (formatted, with the "firmware.bin" file copied at the root level), nothing happens
Yes, that must be the case. Initially he said "with the 'firmware' file copied at the root level" and then changed it to "with the 'firmware.bin' file copied at the root level", as evidenced by quotes in my two replies here and here.Maybe that's the problem? That's EXACTLY the problem: at point 3, when I'm inserting the prepared card (formatted, with the "firmware.bin" file copied at the root level), nothing happens
The instructions say:
"Note: Be sure to copy the “firmware” folder to the root (top-most) directory of the memory card. The camera will not recognize the new firmware if it is placed in a folder under the root directory.

You're welcome, my friend!Thank you again! My fault, please see above

I was a complete idiot, copying the file and not the folder!
Sorry for making so much trouble to you all!
Thank you very much and all the best!
