The shelter dog photos have taken an odd turn since the weather warmed up. They placed bright blue tarps over the grassy yards to provide some shade for the dogs, which is great for the the doggies but not so great for photos. Either the dogs turn out blue, or you correct the white balance and turn the shadows into a bright shade of tangerine. Sigh.
So, I am pretty much limited these days to the back yards, which are about as gray, dreary and institutional as one can imagine. I have taken to some pretty radical background edits in Lightroom to try to make the pictures look a little more cheerful. I wouldn't want to print any of these too big, but I think it's good enough for the adoption web pages, Facebook and printed flyers. I am learning that in this business it's better to stay focused on getting rid of as many of the depressing intake pictures as possible and not worry too much about getting the perfect, studio quality picture.
I will be headed to Turkey next week, and so this is the last of the doggie pictures for a while.

Wagyu -- She's a scary looking girl in her kennel, but it turned out that all she wants to do is to sit in your lap and snuggle. A total sweetheart.

Huey Lewis, another tough looking dog with a sweet disposition.

Spay -- weird name for a male dog. He was a handful who stole the leash and hid it behind a tree to try to avoid going back inside. Then, he escaped and took a self-guided tour through the facility.

Chinook

Mr. Grinch, who isn't a Grinch at all.
