Through a window!

Fantastic job!

(And on somewhat joking note: you really keep your windows clean...)

Many people photograph birds. Not many people photograph spiders.
I photograph spiders. I'm a photo-minority...

I can’t get photos anywhere near this sharp with my P1000 - this photo is like a DSLR compared to mine. I’m not sure if it’s broken, a poor copy, I need some help with settings or I’m just crap at photography

😞

Yes, thanks to my wife, the window was clean enough, but the main contribution was a good direction of the light :)

Thank you very much, Darius my friend, for your nice words of appreciation!

Happy shooting,

Augustin

Thank you very much for such an outstanding compliment!

Settings are the most usual: P mode and AF Spot. I'm just a hobbyist, but here there are real photographers, ready to share their knowledge. I saw here fantastic images taken also in Bird Mode.

To test your camera, I suggest an unanimated target, in good light, and put the camera on a good tripod or a stable surface in order to cut out any disruption. That image was taken handheld, but I was just lucky. And, yes, it was PPed with FastStone and Topaz AI Sharpen.

All the best,

Augustin

Thanks, Augustin Man - your photo has inspired me to try for and to expect better from myself and this camera

You could post a couple of your P1000 images here - straight out of the camera ones no processing and I'm sure you would get some good feedback on what you could try to improve them.

And yes, I agree Augustin's Fieldfare is an outstanding photo - everything about it is really nice. He must be shooting in JPEG because FastStone doesn't process RAW - so much the better as far as I'm concerned.

I've been happy with my P900 and now P950 settings for birds and wildlife - you could use them as a starting point if you think your difficulty might lie in your settings. Like Augustin I too shoot in P Mode. Your P1000 will be the same menu system.

You can be proud of this one Augustin. When you click on it and look at it full screen - it is just beautiful. Tack sharp with such nice colors. Well done.

Wow, thanks for the link - the information looks really comprehensive. Next bit of decent weekend light we get here I’ll try these out.
