or maybe not.. would be a nice surprise though.. there sure hasn't been any mention of the Canon R7 mirrorless lately.. I had given up on it.. hoping to upgrade from my 6dMkII and back to an APS-C camera-- wish it would've been to a 7dMkIII but that obviously will never happen .. btw.. I know all about Canon Rumors https://www.canonrumors.com/is-the-canon-eos-r7-the-next-camera-to-be-announced-cr2/

my Canon 6DMkII sure beats using that ol' Petri 7s 35mm back in 1967 in RVN

I have been out of the loop for a while and was looking to read up on what came out since my last 7D body, is the R7 in Canon's EF mount?
I wouldn't count on ANY new cameras being in EF mount; the writing is on the wall. IF Canon does an APS-C interchangeable lens, it would almost certainly be RF mount and maybe an RF-S if Canon develops crop lenses. Sure it's possible there could be new M bodies, but I think if there's going to be another APS-C they'll do RF mount first.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an R7. As much as I like my 7D II there are features in the 90D as well as the R6 that I'd like to see integrated into a mirrorless APS-C. I love having both options available. I know there are others that don't want or need an R7, and that's fine too. But for those of us that do want it, I'll be happy to see it happen.

No, the R7 is mirrorless ...

TY I should have just kept reading here. A lot of new tech has come out in the last several years, I have a friend who uses Olympus if I remember but he said he's jumping ship to Canon, now I see the Canon mirrorless options I'm assuming that's what he meant.

i think the next canon R camera is going to be a flagship R1 with super high rez and all the fixing to compete with Nikon/Sony flagship Z9/A1 cameras, and it is coming shortly. i think canon shot themselves with R3, which is a puny (at $6K) next to Z9/A1 at this time. R3 will die on the vine once a few people purchase them because the time of 24mp sensor has sailed away, a while ago. this is all my own opinion and it is easy to figure out, even for me :-)

the coming out of a aps-c equivalent R camera, is going to be a few years down the road, IMO. Nikon/Canon will check the market out and see the level of interest on the market and then decide on production of a aps-c body. enjoy using your 7Dmk2/90D in the mean time. i am really tempted in getting a 90D right now but i am apprehensive, somehow. i love using my canon 17-40 f4.0 on aps-c body, as i used to do that on my old 40D and love it. the only reason why i am not doing it, is i know canon will come out with R1 flagship R1, and that is gonna go for a cool $8500. so i need to have some cash reserved for that if R1 checks all the boxes for me. i know it is gonna have approximately whopping 85mp sensor, which will change the equation in all fronts, such as the fastest PC to lots of room for storing those humongous files generated. sorry for blabbering too much here but just consider it is heads up, guys.

been seeing this a while now with Canon and mirrorless.. R5 R6 R3 R5C --all high dollar overpriced cameras from Canon.. why would Canon be targeting the limited high end when there are so many of us looking for mid-priced cameras hopefully with the APS-C R7 especially after putting a complete stoppage on DSLR's which of course I'd rather shoot with.. was waiting for the 7DMkII but that is obviously dead.. I don't shoot or care about video.. mirrorless took away built-in GPS and no I don't want to sync GPS and jump thru hoops with the Canon Connect app or any other software.. paying more money for less with mirrorless.. looks like I'll be keeping and using my DSLR's if no R7.. had a bad experience with an R6 a couple of months ago .. after a couple of weeks of use wouldn't autofocus so it went back for a refund.. I don't need aggravation on a $2500 camera

Yes, Ray, i agree with all your points. some may say we are used to our old and tired dslrs and we don't want any change, well, i don't mind any technological advances but i feel like if something is not broke, why fix it? i own 5 dslrs and i am quite happy with all of them, that is why i am not in a hurry to jump on MLC loony wagon. however, if canon makes an R camera that checks the boxes for me, as i have alluded to, i have no problem getting one. hope things will change for the good, soon.

Can you imagine a mirrorless 7D Mark II with the features of the R6? I just hope it has the durability of the 7. Looking forward to strapping the 6 and 7 on and shooting sports.

same here for change for the good.. we shall see if and when the R7 pops its head out of the sand..

If Canon comes out with a great camera that can use my EF-S lenses, I might consider it. Otherwise, my 90D is going to be in use for many years. If I have to dump my lenses, there would be no reason to stay with Canon. Years from now, who knows.

With an adapter, it's very likely a crop mirrorless can fully utilize them.

If you're hoping for an updated body supporting EF-S natively, don't count on it.

I did read about the R7 coming soon on CR. Went to visit today and see something happened there and the CR owner is leaving because of online bullying. It takes 2 to tangle.

He should learn something from Joe Rogan. He posts a podcast and that's it. He doesn't read or respond to comments. Yes, there have been some controversial and misinformation being spread on that podcast but overall, still some interesting guests. But the CR site will carry on with apparently new owners. He may or may not get a % as he will still supply the rumours to the new owner(s).

All I care about is news info. I am not a paying member of CR nor do I ever click on any sponsor links on that site. If CR were to fold, I just gte my "rumours" from other sites. Life goes on.

Getting back to cameras. My 7D MK2 is 8-years old and still works. If it breaks, I will get it repaired. I am sitting on the side-lines to see what R cameras are coming up.

More likely he makes up part of the rumors to post 😆🤣

the R5 is the same price or cheaper when inflation is taken into account compared to the 5D4 it replaced..the R6 is of good value as its has the same AF and IBIS. frame rate ,buffer etc as the R5 just with les MP and less video stuff but a lot less cost..the R6 also matches or exceeds the capabilities of the 1Dxiii in AF, FPSand buffer for $4K less...bargain
. why would Canon be targeting the limited high end
more profit in high end

the APS-c sports body is way more limited as canon hod only 2 7D bodys spanning 12 years and Nikon only 2 bodys spanning 15 years ..hek Nikon did not even bother competing for 2 or 3 years and missed the D400 out altogether ..sony never bothered and fuji has not got the lenses so Canon 7D and Nikon D500 users have no ship to jump to so you will have to go FF R or Z or lump it as canon will giv it a low priority...as the cost in making a APS-c R6 will be only a small difernce
when there are so many of us looking for mid-priced cameras hopefully with the APS-C R7 especially after putting a complete stoppage on DSLR's which of course I'd rather shoot with.. was waiting for the 7DMkII but that is obviously dead.. look at the r6 vs 1Dxiii

no $2.5K DSLR has ever come close to the speck and capability of the R6

canon are making APS-c redundant with the RF lenses being longer than the EF equivalent 100-400 vs RF 100-500 .. 55-250 vs RF 100-400 and lenses like the 600/800 F11

also slower lenses to keep the size down like the 24-105F4-7.1....this lens size and speed is equiv to APS-c lenses by sony and fuji and faster than anything in canon M world
looks like I'll be keeping and using my DSLR's if no R7.. had a bad experience with an R6 a couple of months ago .. after a couple of weeks of use wouldn't autofocus so it went back for a refund..
your R6 was broken
I don't need aggravation on a $2500 camera

Attention Dislexsic i mean dyslexic person... This post will have many although spell checked, spelling and grammatical errs ..its The best its going get so no need to tell me it is bad I know it is .....................................................................................................
the EOS M is not dead and wont be for a long time ....as long as you don't want a flagship camera with a VF...if that's the case it died sometime ago
My 5D IS a MK1 classic

There is no argument for FF vs APS-c (or m43) with shallow DOF..as it's a law of physics and a very subjective personal thing if you want to make use of the shallow DOF only FF can offer

If you wait for a camera that will tick all your boxes ....by then you will have more boxes to tick..... so the wait continues .....David Appleton
