Hello John! I could not answer earlier, my only "test target" for determining the curvature of the horde is the lawn in the garden and the weather simply did not allow. These are two shots at full faux distance and after being processed in Linguistic Gimp with an "edge selection" filter.

TOTALLY USELESS pictures.

This TOPIC is about the FZ1000, pictures from FZ45 completely irrelevant.

You keep missing/ ignoring my point that there's not much (if any) lens field curvature using a FZ1000/ II at FULL tele with the SMALL CENTRAL 5MP CROP.

To do any "credible" lens quality analysis, best to look at a "RAW UNEDITED" image, i.e., without any in-camera JPG processing/ lens corrections to the image.

Been reading lens optical tests since the mid 1970's.

If you had read some lens tests would have selected "much" better test scene. :-|

I didn't choose it :)
😅 Really? If "you" took the shot, "you" chose the test scene.
Yes I've forgotten about that article; read other Roger Cicala's articles; and have rented lenses from Lens Rentals knowing the testing they say they do prior to renting lens.

But as Roger noted:
"... you can quickly compare resolution at a half-dozen focusing distances ..."; "... Repeating this set of images at several apertures lets me see at what aperture maximum center, middle, and edge sharpness occur (those are almost always different) ..."

I do not make judgements on a single test either; or on single article and or review.

You're still 'ignoring' the main point that one cannot make ANY judgments on the FZ1000's i.Zoom IQ from the images from FZ45.

There's nothing new about a lens center-to-edge IQ differences

Nothing further worthwhile to discuss. Your posts are as informative as your Profile's Gallery.

Bye.

I have a different, no more subjective opinion, than yours (they are undeniable by definition). Physics and results are similar.

Gallery .., I don't see the need to tickle my ego, insert a picture into a thread, as an example, is another matter.

Farewell.
