Anyone bought the Canon R5 from Panamoz yet

Mine is en route as we speak!
Exciting, when is it due to arrive?
Unbelievably my order from them was processed on Monday, and it arrived before midday today! They are usually good, but that’s unbelievable from Hong Kong...
Anything to report on this purchase?
All perfect - 2 dat delivery and camera is spot on!
What is the region documentation and was it in a Canon box and unopened and unused? I assume no extra charges?

Panamoz give a 3 year warranty and a one time service free.
What is this one time service, I do know of the 3 year warranty.

The warranty depends on the continued existence of Panamoz and not an insurance

I’d have to check regional docs, I didn’t even think to look. I must have bought ten cameras and the same number of lenses from them, and never had a single issue, so it’s just not something I worried about. Everything is always brand new and completely unused, never any excess charges at all (they state that in the site too). They really are an excellent company

Hi,
4 years ago we have bought 5DIV + 24-70/2.8 II from them. Back then, they have delivered only in terms of the UK. We were lucky having one friend in London, so he brought it to CZ for us. I have to say, that the price difference with the local market was really drastic - we have basically got the lens for free.

Nowadays Panamoz delivers across the Europe. As UK is not part of EU anymore, they deliver via a French warehouse. As we have decided to go for the R5 + RF 24-70/2.8 and RF 70-200/2.8, even if camera is not available on the shop, they were able to collect one for us, including both lens. The sale was most probably attractive to them. One more thing - payment via Paypal is really expensive. It was really cheaper by something like 400 USD with their CZK conversion rate, so we have paid in our local currency.

Well, due to corona situation, delivery to France took cca 10 days. Then DHL delivered it in just two days. But - we have got a broken camera - joystick button fell-off right after unpacking the camera. Also the charger was a bit different version to what we are used to.

I really feared about how this will end. But their service was nothing but excellent. We have exchanged many emails, they have replied in hours max. They have collected the camera on their expense and sent the new unit right away. This time, everything is OK.

So - do I suggest the service? Definitely so. But it might be to those with the stronger nerves and if you don't mind supporting grey market.

/Petr
+1 for their great service

I ordered a sony A7Riv from them once, and it was one of the early copies with focus issues. They agreed a replacement with no hesitation whatsoever, I think from memory I sent it back (they arranged pickup at their expense) on a friday, and by the following friday I had my replacement camera. Faultless.

Bought my R5 from them and was very pleased with the service, ordered on a Tuesday got it the next Monday in Ireland.

In the past have used e-infinity and eglobalcentral, but they were both an headache with false promises and late deliveries.

Panamoz was smooth sail and my only regret is not having known them before. Will definitely buy from them again.

Had my canon RF 100mm-500mm from them could not get it from anywhere else 3 days delivery to the UK excellent service and price

Interesting: It seems you save big on bodies, but not so much or not at all on lenses...

Does Canon repair grey imports in Europe?

I understand that grey imports have no local garantee, but as long as repairs are done by Canon the risk of buying grey imports seems worth it.

Yeah, the bodies seem to plummet in price pretty quickly. Canon RF lenses at the moment are notoriously expensive due to being in short supply. For example E-infin were selling the 28-70 f2 for £1800 compared to £3k at Wex Photographic. I was only able to get my 24-70 2.8 for £300 cheaper using Panamoz and it was getting really close to the "is the warranty going to be worth it".

Any experience with Canon service dealing with grey imports?

I'm (probably) fine taking on the risk that I have to pay for any repairs as long as the repair is still done by Canon.

I don't think Canon cares as long as someone pays and not them

My big concern is the vat issue and bringing it back into the country when returning from a vacation. I have never seen any reports regarding poor service though.
