These are the first two "test" pictures from my FZ80 camera.

They're both full-size out-of-camera jpgs, not post processed.

I'm still experimenting, will be posting camera settings soon.

..

1. Picture of vodka bottle.

=> Custom Color, Sharpening (-5), Noise Reduction (-5), @ iso1600.

2. Picture of television.

=> Custom Color, Sharpening (+0), Noise Reduction (-5), @ iso1600 & iZoom 2400mm.

So...you bought this FZ80.... to use ??

Well...congrats on your newest camera John.

Wow...I recall all the backlash you gave me ...back some time ago...regarding this camera :)

Thanks ANAYV!

Well, I'm finding new cameras to play with :-)

You may or may not know,

but I've previously gotten used FZ200 & FZ60 cameras,

and due to the pandemic, I didn't really get to use them.

I'm always up for a challenge,

now I have the FZ80 camera,

sometime in the future will also get the FZ300.

In some ways, I'm speechless too :-D

You too my friend, stay healthy!

Thanks Jacqueline!

Glad to hear things are getting better for you.

Have seen on the news most have power now.

Vodka is great. Can place in spray bottle, and use for relieve skin irritations, such as bug bites or rashes, better than steroid creams.

The FZ80 seems to be a challenging camera, but I'm just starting out in my testings & experimentings.

The "custom color" is another mode for "standard color", I guess the FZ80 gives two options to customize the adjustments.

Colors is what I'll be working on, it's important for me that the colors in the pictures matches what is seen with the eyes.

Cheers!

I'm learning this as I'm going along.

Actually, "custom color" is a space where the user can "save" a color profile,

and this could be from any of the color settings (standard, vivid, natural, etc).

Cheers!

Clarification for others not familiar with Panasonic Camera Menus.

The "Custom" is one of the seven (7) options available from the "Photo Style" menu.

Will have FAR better/ greater adjustment with Post Processing; i.e., all the in-camera JPG settings have a very limited -5 to +5 adjustment range.

Which, in addition to his excellent creative eye, ANAYV's post processing of JPG images reason they look so good.

If I recall correctly ANAYV uses the "Natural" Photo Style along with the negative Sharpness and NR values, as its his opinion the "Natural" Photo Style does the least amount of in-camera JPG post processing to images which allows the greatest amount of post processing to the image to one's preferences.

From the many excellent ANAYV's JPG images, he's the one to take recommendations from as to getting the best JPG images from a camera.

For myself I mainly shoot RAW. With RAW all I have to be concerned with is exposure.

No need to be constantly fiddling with JPG settings. I seldom take a image that I do not want to do some post processing tweaks, and does does not take 'me' any longer with processing RAW image than to do the same amount post processioning to a JPG image.

A lot of my shooting done in challenging lighting conditions:
Titanic Exhibit
Classic Auto Exhibition
Moody Blues

In addition to taking pics of church events in adverse/ changing lighting conditions; e.g.,

As to 'FZ80 terms'/ menu options as to "Photo Style"; "Custom" is as i noted in my above post.

Assume you're referring to the "Custom Mode":

Which allows one to save 'ALL' current camera 'settings and recording" (i.e., far more than custom colors).

Page 81; PDF Advance Features Manual
Page 81; PDF Advance Features Manual

Hence why I recommend new FZ80 users to download the PDF Advance Features manual and read the "How to use this manual" and "Before Use" sections to understand how the various icons, notations, and nomenclature for camera's controls are used in the manual.

Will help avoid confusion/ misunderstanding posts if we all use the same (proper) terms. nomenclature for camera's controls and/ or settings.

Thanks very much for sharing, Jon!

I haven't played with "Color Tone" yet.

Thanks for sharing pictures from raw,

completely agrees with it's advantages.

Even though have to "tinker" with jpgs,

but that's what I'm interested in doing,

to produce the best looking ooc jpgs.

Yes, I've been going through the FZ80 pdf manual.

For myself, finding the need to go through many times.

..

Yes, the "Custom memory" (C1, C2, C3) can be very useful.

..

Thanks to your below picture of the FZ80 manual.

The different modes of colors with it's settings,

can be "saved" to the "Custom Color" to use.

Example, I can save the Vivid Color with,

Contrast (-5), Sharpening (-3), Noise Reduction (-5), Saturation (-3),

to the "Custom Color", this way, I can use the Vivid Color mode,

to be adjusted to another way, and be able to use "both" Vivids.

Again to avoid confusion, in the "Photo Style" options it is not "Custom Color"; its "Custom", as noted in the manual. (as per the screen-shot below)
The "Custom Mode" (C1, C2, C3) entirely different. Most novices beginers will mostly likely use the "Photo Style" > "Custom" than the "Custom Mode".

You're welcome.

Yes I being that none of the camera manuals are well written, I tend to wonder if all the Japan camera companies are using the same translator to write their manuals. :-P

The Panasonic Manuals are not the easiest to follow/ understand, especially if one has not 'thoroughly read' the "How to use this manual" and "Before Use" sections to understand how the various icons, notations, and nomenclature for camera's controls are used in the manual.

Also, recommend one does not need to read the "Owner's Manual for advanced features" cover-to-cover.

After reading/ understanding the material in the "How to use this manual" and "Before Use" sections, then read the sections pertaining to the features of the camera you want used; i.e., I'm not interested in video so I have not fully read the video sections—just did a quick glance to see what's available.

IMO best to read with camera in hands, going through the settings.

Thanks for all your sharings, Jon!

Currently I'm charging my FZ80 camera's battery.

I'll take some pictures of the camera's LCD display,

will post them later to showing the Custom Color.

..

I agree that the Custom Modes (C1, C2, C3) is very useful,

and I hope to take advantage of them to use in taking pictures.

..

I'm also not much into shooting videos at this time.

But I do admire those that can do videos very well.

In the future, I'm hoping to try learning to do videos,

because I'm hoping maybe start a youtube channel.

I was so bummed to read that the "Color Tone" was only available using the "Monochrome" mode only.

Sorry but the "Custom Colors" is your own concoction.

Yes you can 'use' the Picture Style > "Custom" to do/ save customize settings for only one (1) of the "Picture Style" Menu options; Standard, Vivid, Natural, Monochrome, Scenery, or Portrait 'JPEG Settings'; i.e., Contrast, Sharpness, Noise Reduction, and Saturation. As in your above screen-shot that clearly shows "Custom Vivid", not "Custom Colors".

Other than increasing/ decreasing "Saturation" there are no 'color' adjustment per se (i.e., RGB) as with the WB > 'Adjust' setting.

9ccc9267db3b49159939ddb7ecda2b90.jpg

Please show me anywhere in the PDF Manual that has the "Custom Colors" term/ name is used. BTW the PDF Manual is searchable; e.g., can do a search for 'colors' or 'custom' and the search will find every occurrence of the word throughout the entire manual.

On page 171 of the PDF Advance Features Manual it has links to 'all' the FZ80 Menus:

c8ac51f8e58949e2844923dd88060dcb.jpg

Again my main point is help avoid confusion/ misunderstandings when posting/ reading posts by using the correct names/ terms as per manual and/ or camera menus.

Cheers,
Jon

Well, excuse my french, Jon! :-D

(With no disrespect to the French)

But you're right, it's my bad, my goof, my mistake.

And seriously, thank you very much for correcting me.

I guess it could have been wishful thinking to have a "custom colors".

As you have mentioned, it should be called Picture Style's "Custom" (maybe storage space?).

..

The White Balance fine adjustments is something I would like to try.

So thank you very much for mentioning.

It's not my job.

So you are adjusting the color by pushing the little three button color button at the bottom? And it gives you a plus or minus three? wondering what difference the mine is versus the plus makes more red more green more blue?

Thanks!

Hi Jacqueline,

Yes, looking at those three colors can be confusing as to what it is.

See the below picture and chart, refer to the #1, #2, #3, #4 there.

Ah I see! I never messed with that because I never looked up what it did. Gaudy color sounds good to me :).

check out my photos I posted of the camera case and tell me if anyone ever sets their camera down flat like I showed in the second picture I think that no one does because no one's understanding my question.

Also are you supposed to cover the hot shoe I had no idea?

Thanks John glad to see you having fun! this disaster is not quite over for me yet because the insurance adjuster boyfriend is already in hyper mode starting to run claims on Monday almost a 3-hour drive round trip and we still don't know if he'll actually be out of town. He loves it but for me it's just nerve-racking it makes these things seem never ending!

Also I might have PTSD from that snow storm. I have some photos but I can't even bring myself to upload them. It was coming down I guess like a blizzard does super noisy things were going crazy the cover for the tree had come apart and was flapping the power was going on and off.... It might have been more nerve-racking than Harvey. And watching that was like watching a literal disaster movie!

I think I'll be better about tomorrow or Monday LOL
