Nice shot. However, the bird shifted slightly and the 1/500 sec is not fast enough for that. That is why when I shot at squirrels, they too moved about, sometime their hands and head shift to eat the nuts and there are inevitable slight motion blur.

This is unavoidable as we are capturing live models. Haha. Cheer.

Wow, the PP is great. What did you do to get this effect? Nice image. Cheers.

Nice image. Maybe more of the upper part of the trees and less of the foreground snow would give more view of the environment. Just my personal view. Cheers.

I thought the foreground gave greater depth to the image. The upper part of the image was a tangle of trees that I thought detracted from the overall story.

You could be right, as I cannot see the upper part. However personally, the all white foreground do not give the feeling of depth, I could not see where it ends unless you have a dark frame around it. It is a personal taste issue, and just my 2 cents worth of observation. Cheers.

Took far longer to edit them, as the shots were all taken under a cloudy sky and tree shades. All in High Res, so do view in Original Size and Zoom in for details.

Such a colorful bird. Very sharp and I am getting envious of that 840mm FL you are having. But I better know my limit as I am already past 65. coming 66, weight of gear is no joke to me. Cheers.

Thank-you, not sure I did anything differently though. The scene is pretty much as I recall, brown everywhere except for the odd patch of snow. It was a quick grab. Cheers

Processed with RawTherapee (custom profile) then over to Affinity Photo only for sharpening on a separate layer (blend mode changed) with Topaz Sharpen AI Stabilize with reduced settings from default.

Superb! Your squirrel is much prettier than those here in Singapore. This is indeed a very nice shot. Cheers.

I actually like the colour of the squirrels over there, but would have to travel more to get the red squirrel over here.

Your photos of the squirrels are very good, detailed and sharp. I think I need to take the TC off in the dull lighting over here, and try getting a bit closer at F6.3, lower Iso, and higher shutter speed.

I like to have at least 1/320 shutter speed for slow moving subjects with the longer focal length, without going past 3200 Iso, but not always possible.

With the TC it is sharper stopped down at F11 than F9 wide open, so even if allowing for higher shutter speed at f9 it does not produce a sharper image. This might be due to DOF being even shallower with the Sony 200-600mm than it already is with TC attached, or maybe due to spherical aberration with TC when wide open from what a internet article says.

Thanks accepting the brown squirrels in Singapore. Just joking. Here is a shot I just shared in another discussion on sharpness. Just for fun.

View in Original Size and you will see a tiny mosquito trying to bite the squirrel head.

Really sharp. I would need to get them closer on a sunnier day at lower Iso to get a sharper image, probably with the TC off.

Are they called a brown squirrel over there rathere than red squirrel? Maybe should be called a orange squirrel, lol.
