if you have tried different camera bodies over the last 5 years or so and one was a standout - lets hear why

for me its the Panasonic G9 because of its really responsive and snappy autofocus , perfect ergonomics ( note vertical scroll wheel ) and amazing EVF

in addition it has dual ibis stabilization and in camera ultra high rez stacked images

maybe I will add one more if I could be so bold

the Nikon D500 at 1500 bucks is a "killer" with its professional autofocus system derived from the D5

Since you included a second body, I'll submit two:

My favorite MFT and FF cameras

My favorite MFT and FF cameras

I was so impressed at the technological achievement of making a mirrorless FF camera as small, and almost as light, as my GX8!

The Sony grip is designed similarly to the GX8 grip which fits my hand almost perfectly. The Sony grip is a bit larger.

The Sony custom buttons and modes allow configurations so that about the only time I go into menu is to format. Two small primes (35 mm and 50 mm) are my most used lenses.

The Panasonic GX8 is also well thought out as far as custom modes and buttons. It provides DUAL IS with my Panasonic-Leica 100-400mm for wildlife.

A big attraction for me is the fully articulated LCD screen and tilt EVF. I've often sat or knelt with the camera on my leg or knee with the screen flipped out. I recall an afternoon watching my first ever juvenile great blue heron.

Both cameras are a pleasure to use.

Are you going to complain to DPR for inserting a video along with the camera tag (probably an advert) ?

It is a music video (in each post), not an advertisement.

its a music interlude I added for entertainment purposes only

lets not get wrapped up with that - lets see some more cameras !!!!!

I used to have a Nikon D7000, which I sold. Last year I found a desire to shoot some ultrawide angle stuff in conditions where I wanted good dynamic range. Long story short, it proved much cheaper for me to buy a Nikon D7200 body and a Sigma 8-16mm lens (both lightly used) than a lens for one of my other bodies.

Going back to a D7x00 I have reminded myself how good the ergonomics and external controls are - if you want to change something, chances are there is a button or dial for it. The bracketing button is probably my favourite - so very handy!

I just got a Fuji X-T2, and it impresses me a lot with its large EVF and "real camera" shooting experience.. This camera really lets me shoot the way I want to shoot without getting in my way, at least so far.

The ability to split a scene into millions of components, record them and then reconstitute them into coloured pictures is an amazing feat of technology. Not to be impressed by that shows a high degree if complacency.

After that it comes down to details of handling and performance. My Pentax K-1ii has IBIS and uses that technology for pixel-shift resolution, astro-tracing and composition fine tuning; it can combine multi exposures (up to 2000) in various ways etc. Some of these features aren't unique to this model or even to this make but they add up to a useful range of abilities.

Some aren't including a photo of the camera, so I'll give you another one to see!

This little MFT camera with the pancake style zoom and pancake prime 20mm f/1.7 lenses make a nice unobtrusive package.

The grip is a bit small, so I added a Fotodiox thumb rest that slides into the flash hot shoe mount.

Both the LCD and EVF tilt, which I find very handy.

It has IBIS which is nice for lenses without OIS, such as the 20mm prime. The tiny zoom has OIS, and the camera automatically defaults to that.

It also has an on board flash - a useful feature that was discarded with the GX8.

My use for this camera is to grab it when going out and about, with no pre-planned photographing in mind. It fits inside my jacket pocket, or in a small shoulder bag.

the sensor was pretty awesome when it came out, it was small and cheap to boot, really regret selling mine

Sony RX100V. Took a series of photos one-handed (other hand holding onto the boat) doing 30 knots on a RIB in the sea whilst simultaneously taking HD video.

Working with tripod, the 60Mpx simply means more details in UWA landscape shots.

Works well even in a moving cable car.

Simply put it more pixels to cover a wider field of view. Cheers.

For stills the Canon R5 is off on a different planet... AI bird AF for heck's sake...

I love my GH5, but it's 20MP, the AF can't track usefully, and even in AF-S it occasionally goes nuts.

a small entertainment interlude you might find intersecting

lets keep those cameras a coming too ...

When I went from a Nikon D2x to a D700 in 2008. The increase in IQ and low light abilities was amazing.

Besides those 2, Also the Sony A7 series and RX1 series.

Runner up, NEX7 and descendants.

Its just the "look" of the photos and colours and i see very few camaras that has that special look that the 5D has ..some can see some don't see it ...one camera that has a similar look is the 6Dmkii,,,now i know its not just me imagining it as when i see the 6Dmkii gallery on DPR and think the photos look like my 5D and i really liked them and then scrolling down the comments 2 or 3 folk say the same so i know its not just me
