Canon EOS Series

I do not think that even they know. They have even hinted on that.

I wouldn't be surprised if Canon doesn't release another DSLR besides their rebel lineup.
Well the 1DXIII is already being field tested so be surprised
It will be the last of its kind. At the time Canon started development on the 1DX III, they were probably still expecting mirrorless to be a passing fad or something only appropriate for amateur use. Obviously, Sony changed all of that with the A9. Now they have the 1DX III on their hands which might be outdated even before it is released.
So, they developed the R and three and a half cracking RF lenses in just the time since the A9 was released? Pretty impressive engineering.

More likely is them, and Nikon, shifting to a higher gear on the production of mirrorless than it is them being caught completely off guard.

After all, whist not sport cameras, it isn't that the rest of the A series are not impressive kit.

Until a few weeks ago the A9 was the third best AF camera on the market and you have no clue what Canon has been working on as far as AF tech goes. I will not even get into other areas were Canon and Nikon still out performs the A9 and there are other areas were the A9 is still superior not when it comes to DR but we will leave that one alone for now. Now you might be right and the new 1D will be a complete failure like the 6DMKII you know the camera that outsells the A7III.

Yeah if you call adding an I and new marketing materials a "new" release than sure go ahead and get excited.
ok because you are one of the photographers field testing it right.
No I'm more interested in other types of charity work.

more like your not a good enough photographer for them to consider having you use one of their cameras to test and provide feed back.

Come on, Canon isn't that stupid, they will keep making dslr's for the foreseeable future and beyond, There will always be a demand for good cameras.
Making DSLRs? Yes. Developing new ones? No, probably not. DSLRs will likely go into a state of development stasis, just like film SLRs did.
That is very possible, but that is also a matter of opinion... It’s stands to reason that DSLR sales have taken a hit because of ML and cell phones... that’s what your graphs show. However, more time will tell if things will level out out or not. The jet plane didn’t eliminate the development of props.

As Justme noted earlier, any new tech can be implemented into dslr’s as well, if possible to do so. So, the R&D is already there. Additionally, like ML, dslr’s are digital, not analog, so your analogy re: slr’s is off. If a market exists, Canon would be foolish to abandon it, especially with the plethora of EF mount bodies and lenses already out there.

Also, there is a matter of preference and genre. Some people like yourself love mirrorless and others don’t really care for it. Personally, I just tolerate it, but will buy and use it. About the only ML I’d consider for wildlife is the A9, but would still have my reservations. Ill be buying one anyway. Even so, I would not abandon my DSLR gear and will continue to buy more.

This ML DSLR argument is old hat. Perhaps, but perhaps not. Everyone has an opinion. Only time will tell. Then too, EVF may go by the wayside once new improved viewfinder tech is developed...
Canon's last film SLR was the EOS 1V, released in 2000. They continued making it until 2010, but obviously, they never updated it or released anything newer or more improved.
And people are still shooting film with more film being developed... and glass plates too.

Just out of curiosity, are you the same person as Donald B from the m4/3 forum? Your spelling and punctuation, and your attitude towards other members, are very similar.
Know and thanxs on the pointing out the spieling I will trip to get that write going farward.
